What is it like to live in Glasgow? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Glasgow is a great city to live in- vibrant and full of friendly and welcoming people. When the sun shines it is truly stunning, lots of good places to eat, live music and not far from scottish mountains, lochs and the sea!

What is the student lifestyle like in Glasgow?

It is really nice, especially in the west end there are a lot of students and nice bars/places to eat.

How much does it cost to live in Glasgow?

Depending on rent, 350-400 a month for a flat, and then 100 for anything else. It probably costs about £450 a month to live.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Glasgow? Is there any advice you can give?

It can be quite difficult, but there is always something if you are willing to share and compromise a little. I found a really cheap flat close to the university. Bring lots of jumpers because Glasgow in the winter is cold, and lots of the flats only have single glazed windows.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Good! Especially the fresh seafood that you can try in the coast, and there are lots of great restaurants and indian take aways (ashoka) in the west end.

What places would you recommend visiting in Glasgow?

The Necropolis is an ancient grave yard above Glasgow with beautiful views, also Kelvin Grove Gallery and Museum.

Is it good to eat out in Glasgow? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Gumbo on Byres Road for lunch, Shilla on Sauchiehall for really good korean food, El Gusto on Gibson St and Tchai Ovna for the best tea.

Is the nightlife good in Glasgow? Where is good to go?

Dram, The Park Bar, Mango and Inn Deep.

What advice would you give future students heading to Glasgow?

Be prepared for rain, and have a sense of humour. It is a beautiful city if you look at it in the right way.
