What is it like to live in Glasgow? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Glasgow is an excellent city to live in. I would recommend it to anyone, young or old. The city centre itself is the standard bustling city, with unsual side streets that lead to a seperate atmosphere altogether.

What is the student lifestyle like in Glasgow?

Glasgow is a big city with 3 main universities and many college's. Therefore, the student lifestyle is a good one. With many high street stores to general cafe's and coffee shops offering student discounts, it is easy to get around as a student in Glasgow.

How much does it cost to live in Glasgow?

I wouldn't be able to answer this accurately as I live at home but, as far as I am aware, if you know where to shop (Aldi and Lidl for example), then you won't have much trouble.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Glasgow? Is there any advice you can give?

As I said, I live at home so I wouldn't be too knowledgeable on this, but I do know that there is a wide range of student acommodation available right in the heart of the city. I can imagine it would be slightly more expensive to rent in the city centre but there are plenty of places that would be cheaper and only a 10/15 min journey on the train/subway/bus!

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Okay, so the food in Glasgow and Scotland in general, is honestly so good! A lot of it doesn't sound nice but honestly try it once and it'll change your life. One place I would highly recommend for traditional Scottish dishes (some with a twist) would be Cafe Gandolfi in the Merchant City. For breakfast (my favourite) lunch or dinner it is fantastic. They also have a fish restaurant two doors down which is amazing also. Both are a little pricey, but worth it every once in a while!

What advice would you give future students heading to Glasgow?

Glasgow is really a city like no other, the people here are so friendly, you can go up to anyone on the street and they'll happily have a wee chat with you.

Don't let the weather bring you down, most Glasgow folk will get out and get on with it even if it is pouring!

Experience as much of Glasgow as you can, and enjoy it!
