Part 3 - A Pakistani girl in Ghent, Belgium
I'm Anadil and I'm currently doing my Erasmus internship at a company in Ghent. This is my Erasmus story...
My first trip out of Ghent was to Brussels. I took the train from the St. Pieters station which is located in the center of Ghent. A weekend return ticket to Brussels cost me around 10 eur. The weekend tickets can only be bought and used on the weekend (Sat-Sun) and is a good bargain if you wish to travel on a budget.
It took around 50 mins to reach the Brussels Nord station. From there I visited the Atomium, which is a giant structure that has been standing since 1958. It is also possible to go up inside the structure.
After that I visited the Royal Palace of Brussels which surprisingly had a free entry for the day. Outside the palace I had my first Belgian waffle, which had put all other waffles I had eaten in my life to shame. This cost me just around 6 eur and I would have easily paid 10 eur for it.
After that I visited the Mannekin Pis which is quite a small and ordinary structure compared to the hype around it. I found it very unamusing and moved on.
I then visited the Grand Place which is quite a lovely place to sit and enjoy the afternoon. In this place, it is easy to get lost in the different kinds of activities happening around you. Sometimes its just nice to sit here and bask in the sun while the day passes by.
