What is it like to live in Ghent? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Gent is filled with adventures.. New environment, new culture, friendly people, amazing landscapes, the city is filled with enthusiasm and friendly vibes.

What is the student lifestyle like in Ghent?

Chaotic :P
Student life is quite stressful as there are more theories and lectures, assignments and loads of works. The student life is the busiest life here in Gent. Weekdays are very stressful and completely occupied.

How much does it cost to live in Ghent?

Gent is an expensive city. If you are a student, you can adjust yourself living together with friends in cheap way by sharing flats and sharing foods, but living alone in Gent is quite expensive. Foods are also expensive. If you are a foodie and love to eat food outsides, then for sure you will be needing a lot of money. (However the cafeteria of the University do provide food for a very reasonable price)

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ghent? Is there any advice you can give?

Depends. If you are thinking of living in the student dorm, you have to book them quite early and ensure them. If you are thinking of living in the private market, then you should ensure everything is okay and then move in accordingly. Gent is a student city, so it is quite obvious that the place is crowded with student and it is advised to make an arrangement of the rooms before you come in the city to study. Portals and groups of ESN are real helpful in this regard.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

To be honest, for me, the foods here are blanch with so less flavor ( NO Offence ) as they don't add any spices. Yet, I love them and enjoy the taste of new forms of food. The university cafeteria has a wonderful menu, which changes daily and you can get a variety of foods there. Of course, the restaurants and food vendors are available almost everywhere. I basically liked Belgian Waffles, Belgian Fries, Croquette, Chocolates, and Beer of course ;)

What places would you recommend visiting in Ghent?

Every places has its own beauty in Gent.
1. Cathedral of St. Bavo (Sint-Baafskathedraal)
2. Gravensteen
3. The Belfry (Het Belfort) Tower
4. Graslei
5. Korenlei Canal
6. Museum of Fine Art (Museum voor Schone Kunsten)
7. Old Market Area
The city is filled with amazing places, everything looks beautiful

Is it good to eat out in Ghent? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it is. The restaurants are quite expensive, but sometimes, it is good to be with friends and gather around to have fun.
I don't have such a picky place but I find it cozy in every cafe I go, in every restaurant I eat in Ghent.

Is the nightlife good in Ghent? Where is good to go?

Night lives are amazing here in gent. The city is filled with lights, although the shops and big markets close pretty soon, but the pubs and bars remain open pretty till the dawn, due to which it feels lively.
Any pubs and bars are a good place to be when it comes to nightlife.

What advice would you give future students heading to Ghent?

The city is so enthusiastic, I mean everything looks so perfect. Prepare for your next beautiful adventure here in Gent. You'll absolutely love it. (If you're a party freak, you're in paradise ;) )
