What is the student lifestyle like in Ghent?

Ghent is very well known for the student lifestyle and more specifically the party life. There is a street called Overpoort and that is the place to be if you want to party till you drop. Everyone loves to go there and I would advise you to do so too!

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I'm not really sure what a typical Belgian dish is, but one thing is for sure. Belgian fries! Everyone knows and loves them. The most well-known thing to have in Ghent when you're partying is a Julien. You can find this in the many fries shops. People say that it actually isn't that good when you're sober, but that it's the best thing ever when you're going out.

Is the nightlife good in Ghent? Where is good to go?

One place. Overpoort! That is the most famous and greatest place to go out. Every Belgian student knows it. People go there even if they're studying somewhere else. They find friends who have a place in Ghent where they can stay, or they just take the first train back.
