What is it like to live in Ghent? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Ghent is such a lovely and very cosy city. A lot of people say that Ghent is kind of like Bruges, but I think that Ghent offers so much more! There are a lot of students so making friends here won't be hard.

What is the student lifestyle like in Ghent?

Super! I have to say that out of all cities in Belgium, my preference goes to Ghent 100%. It's not too big, not too small. There are a lot of clubs if you want to go out, but also a lot of pubs if you want to get a drink with your friends and chill.

How much does it cost to live in Ghent?

I think it's not expensive, but also not cheap. Of course if you go to places in the city centre, it will be much more expensive than off centre. Just walk 15 minutes further and everything will be much cheaper.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ghent? Is there any advice you can give?

Not that difficult. There are several sites, and also student residences. These student residences are often very expensive and not really worth it. There is a Facebook page: 'Te huur: kot in Gent', where there are a lot of accomodation offers every day.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Amazing. You can chose between well known restaurants (Amadeus, Kastart) where you will have to reserve a table, or the other hundreds and hundreds of restaurants. There are healthy options, fastfood, etc.

What places would you recommend visiting in Ghent?

If you want to go out: Overpoort; grab a drink and chill on the lovely terrace: Vooruit Café. Very nice to picnic, busy when it's good weather: De Abdijtuin.

Is it good to eat out in Ghent? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, yes, yes. My favourites are: Amadeus, Kastart, Fitchen, Otomat, De Gekroonde Hoofden, Pampas...

Is the nightlife good in Ghent? Where is good to go?

Yes, definitely Overpoort. It's a street filled with clubs.
