What is it like to live in Ghent? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Ghent is a beautiful city that never sleeps. There is always something to do, a market, a party, a festival etc.

What is the student lifestyle like in Ghent?

Being a student in Ghent means partying every day of the week.

How much does it cost to live in Ghent?

Belgian prices. Bread: 2 €, cola: 2, 20 €.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ghent? Is there any advice you can give?

Very easy. The Facebook group I used is Kot @ Ghent.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There are a lot of restaurants with different kinds of food. A lot of variety (also variation from neighbourhood to neighbourhood).

What places would you recommend visiting in Ghent?

Korenmarkt square, Graslei quay (especially in the evening, all the students come here together with a bottle of wine and some food), Overpoort Street (this is the place with all the clubs and bars).

Is it good to eat out in Ghent? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

My favourite spot is Jilles. This is a burger restaurant with all variations of burgers, also for vegetarians(it costs around 25 €). Another one is Godot, this is also a bar but the food is good and not too expensive(around 15 €). But the best restaurant for me is Amadeus, this is an all-you-can-eat-sparerib restaurant (around 20 €).

Is the nightlife good in Ghent? Where is good to go?

The nightlife happens actually everywhere, but the most crowded place for students is in Overpoort.

What advice would you give future students heading to Ghent?

I never wanted to go to Ghent, but I've studied there for 2 years and I am so in love with this city. Now my heart really belongs here.
