The city is lively and beautiful, big enough to find new spots every week, and get to know new people but still small enough to bump into your friends on the streets

a lot of parties during the year, but in the exams you really get to lock yourself up because it is not easy! so work hard & play hard!

How much does it cost to live in Ghent?

You can get rooms around 400€.. apartments can be pricey as students, the city doens't like the students take all the apartments. And it is around 400€:month expenses food, outgoing,..

What places would you recommend visiting in Ghent?

you can get in almost all the musea for 2euros... visit SMAK, MSK, design museum,.. there are a lot of expositions of students of kask and sint-lucas worth checking out, you find these posters in the hallways of the universities..

Is it good to eat out in Ghent? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yesss you have everything! In the students area you find a lot of 'fastfood'

go to pizza roma or pizza la rustica these are the best and not pricey.

Check out 'de kastart' in onderbergen : the best pasta!

The 'Nederkouter' is an upcoming very lively street and you have now plenty of possibilities to eat here.

Surely check out 'patershol' a nabourhoud where you can eat anything, very cosy!

Go eat ribs in 'amadeus' ( for 16euros you eat as much as you can & it is delicious! )

get your coffee/breakfast/lunch in 'or' 'pain quotidien' 'gust' 'clouds in my coffee', 'simon says' 'superette', SURELY go to the terras in the garden of le pain perdu! lovely

also you have some very cheap & still good studentsrestaurants like 'de brug' 'sint-jansvest' ( vegetarian)

Is the nightlife good in Ghent? Where is good to go?

In general, I know 2 big different nabourhoods.

You have the all known overpoort, it is everyday a party and you have different kinds of music & different people. You find here all kinds of students, young, old, working people, international people..

Thenyou have the 'vlasmarkt' and the 'oude beestenmarkt', the bars & clubs are mostly open in the weekends and on thursdays sometimes, it is a nice area, trendy, bit older people, less known. You have cool hip hop; r&B parties @ club 69, club IIII, charlatan or reggae parties @ giraf..

You'll always find something you like.

don't forget the little jazzy concerts everywhere; check hot club de gand, millie vanillie, white cat..

What advice would you give future students heading to Ghent?

enjoy!
