Why did you choose to go to Ghent, Belgium?

Ghent is recognized as one of the most beautiful and happening cities in Belgium holding a higher proportion of students from various countries around the world. It is one of the best student cities I have ever lived in and therefore chose the same destination to continue my studies.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship is as long as my research. I think the living cost in Belgium is quite high but can be well managed with a good scholarship.

What is the student lifestyle like in Ghent?

Awesome! The city accommodates a lot of foreign students resulting in an international environment unlike some other countries in Europe. This helps a non-European like like me to integrate well.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Ghent to other students?

Yes.

What is the food like?

The city gives away a lot of options for Belgian fries and Waffels. Food should be one factor less to worry about when you are in Ghent!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Ghent?

Finding accommodation wasn't one of the best experiences I have had here so far because of a large number of incoming students in this city during each semester. However, you will eventually find the right place and make new friends.

How much does it cost to live in Ghent?

I would say approximately 600-700 euros for a student.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, there are language courses available in the university. However, language is not a barrier for communication in this city!

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Ghent from your city?

Biking

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Ghent?

The entire city is packed up with options. Just google it!
