Why did you choose to go to Ghent, Belgium?

it is close to UK and the university is very good in terms of scientific success.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

it was for one semester ( 5 months). My university give me 358 € for each month. It didnt cover even my rent. Gent is the most expensive city i live. İ paid 415 € for a room (30 m2 - with a shared bathroom and private kitchen - including bills internet, electricity, water, gas).

What is the student lifestyle like in Ghent?

Belgians are not friendly but you will find many persons from all over the world. and it is too small city but go pass are very cheap you can go to travel other cities in belgium.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Ghent to other students?

yes it is a good experience but they need money.

What is the food like?

french fries or belgian fries, beer, mussel, waffle, sandwiches in everywhere and chocolate. ı think belgians dont like to cook. ı eat generally macaroni, spagetthi.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Ghent?

i find the room from a estate agency i give 670 € deposit but they send most nearly all of them after ı return my country.but i didnt pay anything to the agency. they are many websites you can find rooms, studios etc.

How much does it cost to live in Ghent?

415 € room and 550 € for other thing and ı all the time cook at home. ı went everywhere by bike. ı only use the tram 2 or 3 times. ı was stay close to train station. ı only visit 12 cities in 5 months. it makes more than 2 travel in a month. ı use eurolines bus or belgian rail and cheapest ticket. mid range meal in a restaurant is 20 € per person ( at least) if you eat everyday outside you spend too much.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

yes but it didnt go any language course.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Ghent from your city?

Jetairfly really cheap

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Ghent?
