Why did you choose to go to Ghent, Belgium?
I'm PhD st. and I chose Ghent for the international relevance of geographical research.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
4 months.
I received 2000 euros (500 per month)
What is the student lifestyle like in Ghent?
perfect to study, to have social relationship, to move.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Ghent to other students?
I strongly reccomend Ghent dure to my personal esperience.
What is the food like?
Food is not a strenght point but the spareribs!
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Ghent?
No, it didin't. I found a spanish girl on Erasmusu that adviced me about a free room in a family house.
How much does it cost to live in Ghent?
Living in Ghent is not extremely expensive
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Flemish, french and english. But everyone in Ghent speaks english
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Ghent from your city?
Low cost air company from my city to Brussels-Charleroy airport
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Ghent?
Citycentre, by the river Lei..... and univeristy district (near St.Peter Square)
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Ghent?
My favourite place was IL FOLLETTO in Drabstraat
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Churches, Castle, civic tower, palaces, the Begijnhofs, Ghent is a plenty of cultural things to visit
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Ghent in the future?
Ghent is a very good city to live and study in, but especially is a perfect place to visit other cities because it is very close to Brussels, Paris, Kohln, Amsterdam and.. LOndon too.
