Our trip to Kazbegi _ Vedza sour waters

Taking some water

We went through the Mzhave Tsklebi, too, on our way to Kazbegi, which is a beautiful place to see and, besides, it's really healthy to drink the water, that you can find there. The place is called Sour waters in English and that place looks like desert dunes without any sand and you will find them very amazing. There's water coming down all over the place and you should not go there with your shoes on, because then you will get all wet and you will need to have other pair of shoes or something like that to wear. There were some people, who didn't really know about that and when they realised, that they would get wet, it was already too late. Well, if you wanted to have some of that water taken home or for yourself, you would have to go all the way up, where the water was flowing into some pipes and have a bottle or something to fill and take it at home.

My grandmother asked us to take some of that water to her and that's why my brother went all the way up to get some water. And in the meantime, my uncle, sister and cousin went up, too, however, they got pretty wet and decided to come down to our car. Then we had to have their shoes in the car hoping that they would get dry. There were people all around the place and most of them just walked there into the water and they were with their bare feet or some of them were with shoes or flip flops, etc.

Finally my brother came back with two bottles of that water and we all tasted it and my cousin really liked that water, if you want to know the truth. However, it was not really a simple water. It seemed like those mineral waters, and it was kind of bubbly, too. You would think, that it was a carbonised water or something. They say, that drinking that water is good for our health, so that if you are ever nearby that place or going to Kazbegi, you can stop there and have some of that water drunk or taken with some bottles. Also, I must warn you, that it is pretty difficult to come down from the top of that place all the way down, because it's kind of slippery and if you slip, then there's nothing to help you and there's no place, that you can hold to, so that you should be really careful there.

About Vedza sour waters

Vedza is a mineral water in a village called “Nadiban” in Pasanauri region. People call that place "Mzhave Tsklebi" and it means "Sour Waters" in English and that's because of its taste. The water is full of minerals and iron and that’s why the whole rocks and stones and sand there is rusty and they are covered with yellow deposits. That’s why the water Vedza is very good for the organism and especially the stomach, they say. Among the many other mineral waters in Georgia, this is one of the most popular one, because it’s on the way to Kazbegi, where many tourists and Georgians go to visit and on their way there they stop there in Nadiban to go all the way up on that hill and take some of that mineral water with them.
