National Delicacy ND Georgia
The introduction
Hello everyone, I hope, that you are all doing just fine!
This article is about eating prepared meals and enjoying them. Well, to be honest, nowadays there are many places, where you can have a healthy snack bought or even eaten in that place comfortably and I really like that. And I think, that there should be even more, because when there are so many places offering some healthy dishes in reasonable prices, then people don’t buy those fast food stuff and snacks full of junk.
It’s good , that you can buy that prepared stuff in the large supermarkets and you can buy them in other places, too. They are called “Saojakho Samzareulo” in Georgian, which can be translated into English as “Family Diner” or something like that. They have all those different things, which our parents or grandparents used to prepare at home and which we loved so much, but now with the lack of free time we can not really prepare them at home, so that we can just go to these places and buy the dishes, that we want to eat.
The products
One of the products is this Rice with Vegetables, which contain 70% vegetables along with rice, carrot, onion, bell pepper, chicken bouillon, salt, pepper, caraway and saffron. One portion is 375 grams and that’s just 350 kcal in all. You can just put it into a microwave and heat it for just 2 minutes and that’s all, the dish is ready!
Another one of their products is called Soup-kharcho and it’s composed of 20% beef pieces and rice and onion, oil, tomato paste, kharcho spices, plums, pepper, ground pepper and salt. This one portion of soup-kharcho is just 240 kcal in energy, so that you can eat it plenty, if you love soups or things like that.
The other one is chicken Chakhokhbili and I just love this one, because it’s really delicious and, besides, there are chicken fillets in it and it’s 50% of the dish, so that you get lots of protein from this dish! The other ingredients are: onions, tomato paste, garlic, vegetable oil, grapes vinegar, water, red pepper and salt. You can take this product out and put it into a saucepan and heat it and that’s all. It will be like you prepared it all alone! It’s just 351.4 kcal.
The other thing is Borsch with beef, where you will find 15% beef there with some cabbage , beet roots, potatoes, carrots, onions, tomato paste, vinegar, parsley, celery, salt, red pepper and water, of course. It’s just 257.6 kcal per portion and it’s really full of vitamins!
Another product is Georgian pilaf, which is mainly composed of rice and has 20% beef and some spices, such as caraway, black pepper and salt, however, this one portion is 577.5 kcal, so that you should be careful with eating this Georgian pilaf.
There’s another pilaf, too, it’s called Beef Pilaf and its ingredients are the same, however, it’s said, that it has a little less calories, than Georgian Pilaf. This one is 450 kcal per portion, so that maybe you will want to have this one as a meal and not Georgian Pilaf if you are counting your calorie intake.
The other one of my favourite products of ND is the Beans with Hamand it’s really delicious, too. If you love beans, then you will like this one, if you ask me. It contains 55% beans along with ham and onions, oil, bay leaf, pepper, garlic, celery, coriander, savory, dried spices, utskho suneli and salt. This one has just 257.6 kcal and it’s pretty full of proteins and some vitamins, I must say.
The prices
The prices of ND products range from 1.50 laris to 5 laris, it all depends on which product you are buying. For example, if you buy Beans with Ham, you will pay somewhere about 4.50 laris for that one portion. There’s this rice with vegetables, which cost very cheap and it’s not more than 2 laris, I think.
Where to buy ND products
Well, nowadays, many supermarkets have ND products on their shelves comparing to some time ago, when I had to look for those products everywhere in hope of finding them. But now, you can see the ND products in Fresco and Carrefour supermarkets, too, which is a great thing for us, people, because you will just know, that when you go shopping for some products in those supermarkets, you can easily buy ND products there, too.
If you are interested in any other information, you can visit the National Delicacy web page www.nd.geand there is an information about them in Georgian and in English, too, so that it wont’ be a problem getting any information about them there.
Me and ND
I found out about the ND just recently in this summer, when I was looking for some prepared dish in a packet. To be honest, I didn’t really find out about the ND in the supermarkets, or something like that. As I remember, I saw an advertisement on Facebook about the ND and I wondered, what it was.
Well, ND stands for “National Delicacy” and it’s a pretty new brand in Georgia and when I saw the certificates, there was written, that it had been certified in 2016, so that now you understand how new it is.
I tried so hard to somehow find the ND products in some supermarkets or markets, however, I was not able to do that for a long time, because I didn’t know where to find them and they kind of didn’t tell us, where they had put their products. We thought, that the ND products would first be in the large supermarkets, however, there were not the ND products in either of them. Then it became known, that the products were not yet in those large supermarkets, however, they were in some small markets, which then were seen on their map on the website and then you could easily find the ND products wherever you wanted. However, there were still some mistakes, I mean, there was once this case, when I looked it up and it said, that I could buy ND products in a nearby building, and I knew, that some markets were there in that territory, however, it was showing some other place, where there were not any markets. After some time of searching, I went into this market, which I visited pretty often and that was where I discovered the ND products.
To be honest, the ND products were so new, that even the consultant people didn’t know about them, not to mention, where they had those products.
It was a pretty long time until the product could be seen in some large markets and then in the supermarkets, too, however, until then, it was something to find them anywhere. They didn’t even say, where their products were and the people, who found them and tasted them just wrote on the facebook web page that the products were very delicious, however, they didn’t bother writing where they had found those products.
So, once I was in Saburtalo, just nearby the City Mall Saburtalo and there was this small market and I wanted to buy something to eat right away and when I was looking around in the market, I just saw this ND and I was really excited about it. There was this Beans with ham packet in front of me and I was so excited that I decided to buy it and taste it at home. It only cost somewhere about four laris, so that it was pretty reasonable, and, besides, the portion was pretty much enough for me and someone else, too, I guess.
