Ice Creams in Georgia

The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope, that you all are having a great day!

Today I want to tell you about ice creams in Georgia and which are my favourites and where to eat some good ice cream in Tbilisi.

You know, there are some companies which produce ice cream in Georgia and there are some imported stuff, too , of course, in those large supermarkets and in small shops, too. There are Barambo, Tolia, Gurjaani Ice Cream and others. They all try to compete with each other and produce different kinds of ice cream and they have become pretty good in that, if you ask me.

I’m not much of an ice cream lover, if you want to know the truth, however  I have this urge of eating a sandwich ice cream from time to time and today I had that urge, too, however I really didn’t want the ice cream, I mean, I am not that much of an ice cream lover, though I just really like something really cold and with that soft and moist biscuits on them. And that’s how that sandwich ice cream is _ it has these two soft cocoa biscuits and it has coffee flavoured ice cream between them. And it’s not that large or something like that. It is just a perfect size for one person and it’s really delicious, well, at least , it is for me. To tell you the truth, I just found that ice cream some time ago, and, well, maybe , they have just made that ice cream some time ago, however, there were some sandwich ice creams, too, of course, and I used to eat them.

Some of my favourite ice creams

The first one, that I tasted and liked so much was Jenio ice cream, I guess. It was very newly added to the stores that time and it looked pretty delicious, and we bought some of them. It has kind of two parts. One of them is an ice cream covered with chocolate and the other half is an ice cream between two biscuits, which are pretty soft, too. I just used to buy that ice cream because of the second half of it, I mean, I liked eating that sandwich part of it and, well, I had to eat the whole ice cream, of course, so that I just used to start eating its chocolate part, so that the best part would be left to enjoy eating it. nowadays, you can find this ice cream almost in every supermarkets in Georgia and its price is not much, it’s like 1.20 Laris or so, so that you can enjoy your ice cream in two ways, I can say!

The other sandwich ice cream was this Sandwich of Tolia, I guess. It’s a little bigger than that coffee sandwich, which I wrote about above. This sandwich has two types of ice cream in it between those two biscuits. There’s a vanilla ice cream part and the chocolate ice cream part in that ice cream. And its biscuits are a little harder than those two ice creams’, if you want to know the truth. And, while it’s really delicious, especially that chocolate part, I mean, the cocoa flavoured part, its biscuits make eating it a little harder, than it should be, and because those biscuits are not that soft, when biting, they just come closer together and the ice cream between then squeezes and gets out of those biscuits and then it can be spilt or something like that. That’s kind of uncomfortable, however everything else is just great and that ice cream is pretty delicious, if you ask me.

Well, there is another ice cream, which I kind of like and that is Nuvo. It’s in a waffle cone and it’s either a vanilla ice cream covered with chocolate or chocolate ice cream covered with chocolate and it’s pretty good, if you want to know the truth. You know, its waffle is pretty tasty and crisp and it’s really nice to eat it. I like those crispy waffles, so that it’s really important for me to choose that kind of waffles, which are crispy and stuff like that.

Barambo ice cream company

So, this Barambo company is pretty new in Georgia and it has become favourite one to people pretty soon. It produces chocolates, ice cream and other stuff and it’s pretty popular in Georgia, if you want to know the truth. I like its chocolate ice creams, though there are different kinds of them. There are some other ice creams, too , of course, and they have these huge family ice creams, which people really love, if you want to know the truth. However, I prefer those small one portion ice creams and they are pretty good, if you ask me. However, if everyone in the family loves ice cream and they just have that spoon to take ice cream balls and stuff like that, it’s pretty awesome to buy that family ice cream and have it in the fridge and when you want, you can take it out and enjoy eating it. you know, there are just vanilla or chocolate or vanilla and caramel and vanilla and chocolate and other ice creams. Some are a little smaller and they are made of chocolate or vanilla. There’s this new ice cream, too, and it’s a fig ice cream. Well, I haven’t tasted it, however my friend says, that it’s really delicious. She thought, that it wouldn’t be tasty at all, however, when she tasted that ice cream  , she couldn’t believe how delicious it was and now it has become one of her favourite ice creams, if you want to know the truth.

It has not been much, since this Barambo company made another ice cream and they had all those commercials and stuff like that on TV and I didn’t really like those commercials, if you want to know the truth, because it was not that great and it wouldn’t want you to eat that ice cream, well, at least, I didn’t feel like eating that ice cream when I saw that commercial. It was not that intriguing or something like that. It was just a plain commercial, which I didn’t like that much. you know, there are commercials, that just make you want something pretty badly, even if you don’t need that thing or don’t want to eat it or anything, however, you still want to buy it and this commercial just makes you buy it, you know, when , in fact, it can be nothing but a plain thing and not that special as they say in the commercial.

Well, I just love Tiramisu, to tell you the truth, and I have written that in my other blog about Tiramisu and preparing it and stuff like that and how easy it is to prepare it and how delicious it is, so that you can see it in my “recipes” blog, if you are interested and if you haven’t read it yet, because if love Tiramisu or if you are interested in preparing it, you should definitely see my blogs and read that article. Anyways, the Barambo company has made this new ice cream and it’s called Tiramisu, and that’s what I was writing about just above. They have made three kinds of this new ice cream. One of them has cherries and the other one has caramel and this third one is Tiramisu ice cream. Well, I haven’t tasted those other two, however, my friend said, that she liked the Tiramisu one the most. I guess, that cherry one could be delicious, too, I might taste it some day, however, I really don’t love fruit ice cream that much. and about that caramel one _ well, I wouldn’t like it, I guess, because I usually don’t like caramel stuff, in contrast to my sister and mother, who just love buying caramel ice cream and they love those caramel chocolate bars and stuff like that, you know. They will probably like that caramel ice cream of Barambo, I guess.

Tiramisu ice creams

So, about that Tiramisu ice cream of Barambo! I saw it on commercials and thought about tasting it, however, I didn’t really think, that it would be that good and I didn’t buy it immediately. However, this one time I was going to visit my friend here and when I got there and we talked and stuff like that, we got hungry and then we decided to have an ice cream with those other things, too, of course, and she told me that this Tiramisu ice cream was tasty and she thought we could eat it. well, as I love Tiramisu, I thought, that I could taste that ice cream and see whether I liked it or not. And its price is pretty reasonable, too, I mean, it costs something like 5 Laris, you know and it’s 900 grams or something like that. So it’s pretty much enough to serve 4 or 5 people, I guess, because it’s kind of nourishing, if you want to know the truth. Well, we bought that ice cream and tasted it, however it didn’t live up to my expectations, moreover, I kind of didn’t really like it, because I anticipated, that it would have a biscuit in it, too, but it didn’t. and, you know, I just love when there’s a biscuit or something like that in an ice cream , I mean, that’s what makes me want to eat them, I guess. So, I just ate it, because it had this flavor of Tiramisu, if you want to know the truth. And it was kind of fluffy, too, and I was expecting that ice cream to be kind of heavy and stuff like that. So, I guess, if you like some light ice creams and if you want to eat an ice cream, that is light and soft and fluffy and easy to eat and stuff like that, and if you like Tiramisu or its flavor, thn, you can buy this Tiramisu ice cream and enjoy it, because that’s how it is _ it’s light and fluffy with Tiramisu flavor. Well, to tell you the truth, Tiramisu is kind of light and fluffy, too, however, I love that one, which is heavier and with much savogliardi and stuff like that, so that those things make Tiramisu heavier and more nourishing, too, I guess.

This other time, when we went to Ureki, there was this supermarket, where I saw these ice creams, which were called Tiramisu and I just couldn’t resist not buying them, however, they had just this flavor of Tiramisu and the ice cream was covered in chocolate glaze and it was a plain ice cream. Though, it was pretty delicious for the ice cream, if you want to know the truth and my father liked it , too, and he said, that it really tasted like Tiramisu. The one thing that it lacked was the biscuit, for me, you know, however, it shouldn’t have had any biscuit, of course, because it was an ice cream and not the Tiramisu cake. There was this other  ice cream, too, which I hadn’t seen anywhere else until then. It was called Belgian Chocolate and it looked pretty nice, so that we bought that one, too, with those Tiramisu ice creams. Well, to be honest, it was meant for my mother, because it looked special and I thought , that she would like that Belgian chocolate ice cream, however, she told us , that she didn’t want any ice cream and she didn’t really like ice cream at all, so that it was left like that, and, well, as I really wanted to taste that ice cream, because I hadn’t seen such anywhere, I ate that one and it was pretty delicious, if you want to know the truth. It really had that Belgian chocolate taste, I guess. Well, I have eaten some Belgian chocolate and I kind of know its taste, if you ask me, so that I can say, that it had something Belgian in it.

Tortufo ice cream

There’s another ice cream, which is Ukrainian, and , if you want to know the truth, Ukrainian chocolate bars and ice cream is really delicious and you should definitely taste those, and also, Ukrainian wafers are very good and if you have a chance to taste those ones, you should definitely taste them. Well , this ice cream is called Tortufo and I just saw it in particular supermarkets, I mean, they are not everywhere here in Tbilisi. You know, they distribute that ice cream only in some supermarkets, I guess. The place, where I first saw it was on Nutsubidze Plateau supermarket. You know, I just love those sandwich style ice creams and it had those two biscuits with a different coloured ice cream in the middle of them and it looked really tasty, so that I asked the consultants what it was and they told me , that it was an ice cream and it was an Ukrainian one, so that I decided to buy it and taste it and see how it was. It was pretty big in size for one person , if you want to know the truth. Or , at least, it was pretty big for me, however, I could just divide it and thing like that, of course. Well, when I tasted it, it was really delicious, and it had those kind of soft biscuits, that I like, so that the ice cream can’t get squeezed between them while eating it and those biscuits were of cocoa. The ice cream filling was pretty delicious, it had this alcohol taste, maybe rum or something like that and it was really a distinguished taste. After that, I usually bought that ice cream, however, I couldn’t find it in other supermarkets around Tbilisi. There was this one time, when I was in Varketili and there’s this supermarket called Furshet and they had it there. And then some time later, I found it in Fresco, too, which is nearby that Furshet supermarket. However, this time I haven’t seen those ice creams neither in that Furshet nor in the Fresco. Though fresco has other Tortufo ice creams, which are in a can or a container and it doesn’t have those biscuits, you know, and one of the things that I liked about that Tortufo ice cream was those soft biscuits, that it had around the ice cream, if you want to know the truth.

Gurjaani ice cream

There’s this ice cream from Gurjaani Ice Cream company, which I liked from my childhood and it’s called Joker. This is a plain vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate glaze and it’s kind of a cylinder shaped, you know. It’s nothing fancy, however I just liked it so much, that I always bought it. it’s pretty easy to eat it, I guess, that’s why I liked it, and it had this kind of frozen ice cream in the middle, I don’t really know how to describe it. Gurjaani is pretty popular in Georgia, and I don’t know for sure, but , I guess, it was the first ice cream company in Georgia. So that, everyone knew its products and everyone bought just its products, as I remember. There was this waffle ice cream, which everyone loved, and they loved it mainly, because there used to be no other kind of ice cream then, some years ago, I guess. My grandparents love that vanilla waffle ice cream and when we ask whether they want some ice cream or not, they always say, that they will eat that vanilla waffle ice cream. They just don’t approve other ice creams as ice creams, so that we know , that if we want to buy them ice cream, we should buy that one _ vanilla waffle ice cream for them. My father also likes that ice cream, however, he is not against of eating some other ice creams, too, of course. And my uncle likes those waffle ice creams, too, if you want to know the truth. And my mother just hates that waffle ice cream, because it reminds her of those years of Soviet Union and all those things, you know. Well, my aunt just loves ice cream and she always has some family ice creams in her fridge, you know, those huge boxes of ice cream, that those companies produce. She and my cousin and, well, my other grandmother, too, love ice cream and my aunt prepared some ice cream at home, too. I mean, she used that whipped cream powder and milk and some cocoa and coffee and vanilla for the flavours and made a pretty delicious ice cream, if you want to know the truth. The vanilla one was kind of fluffy and light and my grandmother liked it a lot. The coffee one was the best they said, however I couldn’t have the chance of tasting it, and the chocolate one was just perfect _ it was heavy and just the way I like, so that I ate it mostly. I also tried preparing some ice cream at home, and I did some chocolate, coffee, rum flavoured ice cream, which was pretty delicious, though others didn’t really want ice cream, so I had to eat it, if you want to know the truth.
