Why did you choose to go to Geneva, Switzerland?

I chose Geneva as my Erasmus location in order to work at the department of Astronomy of the University, which is known worldwide.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

5 months. I got 420 CHF/month as financial aid from the University.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Geneva to other students?

Sure I would recommend it. The University has plenty of associations in diverse domains. It is therefor quite active. The drawback nevertheless is the cost of living, which is very high!

What is the food like?

Plenty of restaurants, with very different specialties and prizes. Therefore it is easy to find the ideal place for the evening.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Geneva?

No, but I lived in France near the border.

How much does it cost to live in Geneva?

Since I lived in France, I don't exactly know. I would say something like 1000 CHF, all included.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

My native language is French, so it was not an issue for me.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Geneva from your city?

The cheapest way (and the easiest also) is via airplane (Geneva - Brussels)

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Geneva?

Either "rue de médecine", a road plenty of bars near the main University building, or "l'Usine", a place with good music.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Geneva?

Holly cow!

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The main church in the old city has, below it, a museum on the evolution of the building. You walk in between ancient bedrocks, receiving explanations on how to analyse them. Very interesting!
There is also the Science museum in front of the Lake. It is well thought and the building is wonderful.
