Why did you choose to come to Geneva, Switzerland?
I came to work with the particle accelerator at CERN.
How long did the grant last? How much financial aid did you receive?
I had a 6 month contract and I got 1500 CHF a month.
What is the student lifestyle like in Geneva?
I've been living in Saint-Genis-Pouilly, a town in France.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Geneva to other students?
The city, absolutely. I don't know anything about the university.
What is the food like there?
The cheese and chocolate there is amazing.
Was it difficult to find accommodation in Geneva?
I didn't do much looking, it's hard to find somewhere for cheap.
How much does it cost to like in Geneva?
A room in a shared flat is expensive, it can cost around €800 a month.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the university?
A lot of people speak English in Geneva, but there are a lot of French courses available there.
What is the easiest way to go to Geneva from your home city?
By plane.
Where would you recommend for a night out in Geneva?
Village de Soir in Carouge is a club with two rooms and entry is free before 11 pm.
And to eat in Geneva? What are some of your favourite places to go?
Restaurant Chez ma Cousine on Place du Bourg-de-Four.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Go to the tourism office and buy the audioguide to visit the international zone, but especially the historic centre.
Do you have any advice for future students in Geneva?
Enjoy the city and explore all of its hidden corners. Go swimming in the river in the Jonction area and in the lake at the Bains des Pâquis.
