Experience in Galway, Ireland by Claire
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Galway? Is there any advice you can give?
Accommodation isn't too hard to find with many options between houses and student accommodation. Rent is usually around 300 a month with student accommodation being that bit more expensive. One of the handiest things about Galway, for NUIG students at least, is that the university and the city centre are close together and most houses and student residences are within walking distance of town (cinemas, shops, clubs and restaurants), so not driving is not a problem and you don't really have to rely on public transport.
Is the nightlife good in Galway? Where is good to go?
Galway's nightlife is great and during the week, it's very affordable with great deals on drinks. Get promoters for the clubs to stamp your hand for a discount on entry to clubs. Electric Gardens is my favourite along with Karma but Carbon usually has great music, the club itself is just very small. The Roisin Dubh is a great spot and the silent discos are great craic and good value too. It's a fiver to get in and with that you get a free pint and free shot before 12.
