Why did you choose to go to Galway, Ireland?

It was the only English speaking country to be chosen in my University

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I have been here for the first semester (September to December) and haven't received any money yet.

What is the student lifestyle like in Galway?

There are a lot of students. Mainly in NUIG area. GMIT area is away from the city life and there aren't many Erasmus students.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Galway to other students?

I have been in GMIT, which is way smaller than NUIG and I would not recommend. I feel like the level of studies is way too low... I will come back home with the feeling of having learnt nothing new.

What is the food like?

Good but expensive.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Galway?

It is a complete nightmare. There are too many students and not a lot of accommodation available for them. My recommendation is for you to go there 10 days before classesstart and, while living in a hostel, try to find a house. Online it will be so hard for you to find a place.

How much does it cost to live in Galway?

Expect to pay between 400 to 500€ per month for your accommodation.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes and as far as I know yes.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Galway from your city?

Fly from Madrid to Dublin and then Dublin to Galway by bus (Citylink.ie)

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Galway?

There are many pubs and clubs, you can go out any night of the week.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Galway?

Haven't gone to any.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Galway City Museum.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Galway in the future?

Be prepared for the weather, winter here sucks. Be prepared to suffer trying to find a place to live.
