Florianópolis is known by Magic Island, and of course there is reason for it. It is a beautiful place to live, you can live in the middle of the urban city, at the center, near the university or just in front of the beach. It is a place where you can work and spend your vacations there.

What is the student lifestyle like in Florianópolis?

It is good to be student there because there is a lot of parties organized by undergraduate students. And everybody is open-minded and really helpful with exchanging students.

How much does it cost to live in Florianópolis?

It is quite expensive for brazilians to live there but for who comes from another country is not that expensive. For example, if you are european, it will be really cheap to live there.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Florianópolis? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not difficult, just when it is the beggining of the semester you have to hurry up because everybody is looking for a place to stay.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The most traditional dishes has fish or seafood on it. Well, it is an island, what can you expect? I am vegetarian so I dont eat it.

What places would you recommend visiting in Florianópolis?

My favorite places are: Lagoa da Conceição, Barra da Lagoa, Lagoa do Peri, Lagoinha do Leste... They are really beautiful places with natural landscapes.

Is it good to eat out in Florianópolis? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

The most common places to eat out nowadays are sushi's bar. You can find it anywhere and it is not so expensive. But usually the restaurants close early and it is not so easy to find restaurants because there is no "restaurant street" in Florianopolis where you can go and choose a place. So it is better to take a look on the internet before you go out.

Is the nightlife good in Florianópolis? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is not so good actually. There is some clubs in the city center or others that is located really far from everything.

But if you want to just chill out in a bar then it is easy to find some close to the university.

What advice would you give future students heading to Florianópolis?

If you love nature dont think twice! Florianopolis is a beautiful place that have at least 40 beaches so you will never stop to explore the island. People are really receptive and will want to take you everywhere. It is really easy to make friends and have fun!
