Places you cannot miss in Florence
Florence is the most populated and famous city in Tuscany. Full of history, art and culture. This place is a great destination for students.
No cars are needed, the best way to travel around Florence is getting a bike and riding it around the whole city. Surprise yourself with the architectural wonders: the cathedral (known as the Duomo), the old churches and palaces (for example the Basilica di Santa Maria Novella or the Palazzo Pitti).
The facades of the buildings and the squares won't leave you indifferent: try riding on the carousel placed in Piazza della Repubblica, enjoy a piece of pizza or the amazing italian gelato (ice cream) while crossing the old bridge (Ponte Vecchio) and passing the incredible jewelery stores.
One of the most beautiful places in Florence is the Giardino di Tivoli, a park where you can walk and enjoy surrounded by the pure Tuscan air.
You can find so many fancy restaurants and pubs to party, but if on a Saturday night you are looking for something quieter, go to Piazza Santo Spirito and enjoy a glass of Italian wine sitting on the floor next to the crowd.
Don't forget to visit the Piazzale Michelangelo where you will enjoy an amazing panoramic view of the city.
Did you know that the real David statue from Michelangelo is located in this town? If art is your passion, go and find this masterpiece in the Academia Gallerie (Galleria dell'Accademia)
Probably it won't be possible to do this in just one day, but if you get to live an Erasmus Experience in any place from Italy or, like me, you get an offer as an Au Pair in this area, do not miss the opportunity! Florence is a city that you cannot miss!

Dear Patricia, you are perfectly right...I think I am a bit late for this foro, but Florence is "my" city and what you mention about just sitting in Santo Spirito and drink a glass of wine is the spirit of Italian Dolce Vita even if it can be a bit "stereotype". Just let me correct that you probably mean "Giardino di Boboli" not "Tivoli" that is close to Rome, right? Speaking about Giardino di Boboli I can tell you that I visited it with my class of art (Scuola Toscana school of Italian) during my course of art histroy and the teacher explained us something very very interesting about the "Mystic" meaning of all statues there. We entered from Porta Romana, not from the big entrance of Pitti Palace...please follow my advice, believe, it is all another perspective! cxx Love Florence! By the way, great pics!
