Why did you choose to go to Essen, Germany?

Because it is a very dynamic and active place, it is a beautiful city, it has incredible views (that is why it was the green capital of Europe), and at the same time the accommodation in Essen is not so expensive.

You can find different types of food, from different cultures like Chinese food like the "Hot pot", Turka like the Döner, Arabic which is my favorite, I love the "Shawarma", you can also find Indian, American, Italian and much more.

Actually I advise you to look for your accommodation in advance before coming to Essen. You can apply for a room in the university dormitory (Studentenwohnheime=Student Residence) Or you can search in some online applications like (WG gesucht - Wohnsuche- eBay) to find the accommodation you like best.

About 500 euros a month.

The university gives a free course, once a week for 4 hours. So I recommend you make the most of it.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Essen?

I recommend going to Almidan Aldimaschki, an Arab restaurant, and the Five Guys.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Essen in the future?

There are many foreigners in Essen who strive to achieve their goals in the city or to return home, so I advise you to make the most of your experience in the city and to come with all the desire to study.
