Duisburg is a nice place to do the Erasmus programme. Maybe it is not the best place but enough to live the Erasmus experience for 4 or 9 months. Although Duisburg is not the most beautiful city all over the world, it is very near Düsseldorf (less than 30 minutes by train), Colonia, Bonn… Furthermore, the Ruhr Area offers you many possibilities to travel, since you will find several nearby airports (Düsseldorf Airport, Dortmundo, Weeze) and you are in Central Europe very near Belgium, Holland and Nordic Countries. The University must have about 70-80 students from Duisburg and Essen. They are not many students but enough to meet people in order to have your own friends, in many cases, very close to you.
