Flødeboller

The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope, that you are all doing just fine!

So, have you heard about the flødeboller? Maybe you have not. So that, I will tell you about the flødebollers and what they are and where you can find them. To be honest, it’s nothing fancy or something like that, it’s just a traditional sweet of the Danes. Well, of course, when I was going to go and see Denmark, I just googled many things to get to know the country and its traditions and know many things about its capital Copenhagen, where I was going to live for a couple of weeks, so that I needed some information about the city, of course, and I had to know, what I could eat there and what the locals had in their traditions there.

So that, when I googled about the traditional things in Denmark, one of the articles was written by someone, who visited Copenhagen just recently and she had written many things about her trip there and what she saw and what she  brought home, etc. One of the things, that she mentioned and told us to taste was this flødeboller, which was a traditional sweet of Denmark, as she said.

So, to tell you the truth, there’s nothing fancy in the flødeboller, because I have eaten something like that all my childhood and I still remember those things, which were sold in the markets back in my childhoodand we used to love them and we were very glad if someone visited us and brought those things, or just if our parents bought them for us. However, that period of time was a pretty hard one for the country and people didn’t have enough money even to buy some bread most of the times.

Anyways, let me tell you about the flødeboller. It’s a marshmallow coated with chocolate mainly. However, you can also use some other ingredients for the sweet to get fancier and more delicious.

It’s a Danish name the flødeboller and it means “cream buns” in English.  You know, actually those flødebollers were called Negerbolle (negro bun) or Negerkys (negro kiss)and it was that way until the 80s, when the term negro was phased out by all the main producers, because it was considered racist.
