What is it like to live in Dallas? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's FUCKING awesome. Everyday is a Sunday in the park.

What is the student lifestyle like in Dallas?

Never went to University in Dallas, but did all of my primary and secondary school there. It was stressful, academically, but was really fun. In the South, especially in Texas, there are a lot of high school traditions that the rest of the country has let go of (if they ever had them in the first place). For university, well there's SMU in University Park/Highland Park, which is a great area–very clean, nice restaurants, good shopping, but not a lot of diversity off campus I'm assuming.

How much does it cost to live in Dallas?

It depends on your hood, but Dallas does have some of the most expensive real estate in the US, mainly by North Park and in Highland Park, to name just a few expensive hoods. Dallas is also getting a bit more expensive every year. When I was in high school, a ticket to the movies was $8. 00, now it's $10. 00!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Dallas? Is there any advice you can give?

I've never lived on my own in Dallas, so I wouldn't know. According to my brother though, there's lots of good accommodation. Dallas is still cheap compared to other major cities like NYC or LA.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Tons of good Tex-Mex, soul food, and asian (especially Thai, for Vietnamese, you should go to Richardson or East Dallas maybe? ). There are few good French restaurants, but my favorite is Toulouse on Knox and Henderson, it's reasonably-priced. Outdoor tapas is really popular since we have nice weather. We also have great Italian, Korean, etc. in Uptown (Dallas NOT Cedar Hill). Bishop Arts District probably has the best cluster of restaurants in Dallas: Some of the best Pizza, pretty good Latin American cuisine at Gloria's, gourmet southern cookin' at Hattie's, and the amazing CHAN THAI, which has the best pad thai in Dallas–try their fried ice cream for dessert.

What places would you recommend visiting in Dallas?

Just go and eat your heart out.

Is it good to eat out in Dallas? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Just eat anywhere, it's all good.

Deep Ellum burger joints Angry Dog and Twisted Root are also really popular too.

Is the nightlife good in Dallas? Where is good to go?

Source

I've only been clubbing once in Dallas (due to age restrictions), but it was fun. We went to Zouk. Unfortunately Dallas is lacking in club life because some of the most popular venues tend to burn down or there are too many shoot-outs and they get shut down. There is a great bar scene though. Clubbing in America is very different from Europe. In Europe a lot of people tend to jump up and down which is cool and all, but in Dallas it's all about one thing.

What advice would you give future students heading to Dallas?

GO and then stay and make it even more diverse than it already is, or return to your respective countries and spread the good word that Dallas is the most amazing city in the world and has the best basketball team in the country. We have the largest arts district just full of great museums, tons of cultural festivals and parades, great house parties (with solo (red) cup, I know y'all like that shit, don't deny it! ). Plus, Dallas is the home of the frozen margarita... need I say more?
