The Coastline of Croatia 2

My second time in Croatia was about 3 months ago. This time, the experience was way more delightful not only because we went by car, besides who doesn't love a good road trip? but because I was surrounded by really nice people and we shared a two-floor semi detached apartment. For that one week, we developed a great interpersonal relationship, like family.

Vir is a lovely place to be especially in the summer and we lived about 130 meters to the sea side.  Honestly, if you're looking for a surreal, peaceful place to venture to but you're on a budget, I would recommend Vir, Croatia. It's such a small city that practically everything can be reached by foot or bicycle.

Our mornings were a little chilly and started off with group breakie but by 11:00 or 12:00,  the temperature was higher and " beach-perfect", and what's better than relaxing on the beach daily with a hard-hitting novel in your hands which for a medical student is a rare moment.  At night, there were two options: the first is a nice stroll to the center where live Croatian music, bar, road-side food and ice cream were all choices and the other would be a drive to Zadar, a wonderful city which is in very close proximity to Vir. We ventured into Zadar a couple of times, once during the day, to the market where cheap organic products, fish market and practically everything you needed would be available for half the price compared to major grocery store outlets.

During the evening, we went to the city center for coffee, ice cream and to climb to the top of the Cathedral of St. Anastasia. It costs about 25 HRK per person and once at the top, the para-nomic view of the whole city is quite incredible. I recommend going to watch the setting sun over the sea. Magnificient indeed.

My trip to Vir allowed me to gain a whole different perspective of the country that I wasn't fortunate to grasp the first time. The live Croatian music was amazingly soothing, I got the chance to enjoy some grilled fish we bought from the market, the recipe: Preparation of the fish by slicing it open, taking out unwanted parts, deboning and washing the fish. In a bowl, mix oil, spices, and herbs and properly marinate the fish in the mixture. Leave for 45 mins to 2 hours. Prepare the grill using charcoal n light the fire. Place the fish(es) on top the grill, turning it over after 20 mins. Serve with salad. Last but certainly not least, on the beach, other water activities such as jet skiing which cost 250 HRK for 30 mins and para sailing for 550 for 10 mins HRK are also available. For one week, life was truly astounding.
