Housing Foundation Copenhagen

The introduction

So, as I have already told you about my visit to Denmark and why I was there, I won’t be telling you all that again. However, for those who don’t know about it, I will tell you, that I was in Denmark for a couple of weeks to attend lectures in internal medicine. Actually, it was a course in internal medicine, which had two sections, and I was attending just the first one along with some other students. However, many of the students were taking the second section too.

Anyway, our applications did got accepted and we did get the chance to attend the course, or courses, which we had chosen. But, it was just for the course or courses and we had to decide, whether or not, we still wanted and could participate in the course and we had to let them know about our decision. There was this other thing too: we were not provided with accommodation and we had to search for it by ourselves. As you know, Denmark is a pretty expensive country, and we couldn’t just find an accommodation for a couple of weeks that was good enough for us and not very expensive.

There were some options of finding accommodation on the Internet through booking.com or some other web pages. For example, some students had rented apartments through BNB. They were pretty comfortable.

We were suggested, that even though these were not the university housing apartments, the Housing Foundation was some kind of partner with the University of Copenhagen. So we could contact them and choose a room for ourselves. However, there were some to be followed procedures before we got to have an agreement and a room from them in Copenhagen.

The Housing Foundation

The University of Copenhagen recommended the Housing Foundation to the internal medicine course applicants, so that they wouldn’t bother about looking for housing in Copenhagen. You know how hard it is to find a really nice and cheap place at the same time. I’m not saying, that the rooms provided by the Housing Foundation were cheap, but their cost was reasonable and, besides, there were some rooms, whose cost was pretty low, and the description was pretty good, so that we could choose those rooms for ourselves to be in during the course.

To be honest, I thought about the idea of getting a room via the Housing Foundation for too long, . However, I couldn’t really decide, whether to rent a room from them or not, because there were many things to be done to get a room rented and, besides, there were some things, that you should have done before getting to your room. Moreover, there were not many pictures of the rooms and you couldn’t really know, how your room would look like until you got there. You know, that it is a big problem, because when you choose a room and you don’t know how exactly it looks like, you pay for the rent beforehand, you get there and it is not what you expected, then you can not really do anything about it, because it’s just your fault, that you have chosen this kind of room.

While I was thinking about these things for a long time, I searched for rooms in Copenhagen on booking.com. However, it was really expensive to rent a room there for two weeks or even more, so then I decided to send the application to The Housing Foundation.
