First few days: wandering around the city

After having adapted and after the first few days, I was already feeling settled. I already knew the University, my classmates and other Erasmus students, with whom, I'm living with all year.

First few days: wandering around the city

To start, Clermont-Ferrand is not really a touristy city, but the Gothic cathedral notably stands out for various reasons: it's situated right in the centre of Clermont-Ferrand and on the highest point of the city. It's visible from practically any point in the city; its black colour is what makes it a Gothic cathedral (this colour is due to the fact that volcanic rock from around the city was used for its construction).

On the same high point of the city, you can go up the towers in order to look at the perfect panoramic of the city.

We can also point out the place de la Victoire and the city hall right in the historic part of the city. A little more out of the city but without moving us too far from the cathedral, we find the Notre-Dame-du-Port Basilica, declared a world heritage site by UNESCO.

Another place where we could relax was Lecoq, it's a big public garden in the centre of the city where you're able to read or have a little break with friends surrounded by nature.

Coming down from the castle, we came to Place de Jaude, the biggest square in the city surrounded by cafés, shops, a shopping centre and it's the busiest part of town.
