Experience in Celje, Slovenia by Damjan

What is it like to live in Celje? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Celje is a very nice town with old achitecture in the very center and with everything what one needs: a great (Saturday) market where you can buy also fresh organic vegetables, with a large cinema, some clubs, karting, beautifull Savinja river and white mountains (Logarska dolina) not far away. It is in the center of Slovenia near highwaay and everything is close.

How much does it cost to live in Celje?

A bit more than in Maribor and a bit less than in Ljubljana, generaly not much. The difference is mainly in the price of accomodation, the rest is the same.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Celje? Is there any advice you can give?

Great, various, we eat a lot and good :).

What places would you recommend visiting in Celje?

Celje has the best city forests in Slovenia, with numerous marked walking trials, visit Smartinsko jezero and rent a paddling boat there or walk along it.
Go to Lasko spa, it is 15 minutes away by car, or go skiing to Rogla, 40 minutes away...

Is it good to eat out in Celje? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Try fresh fish in the kiosk near to the hospital or eat out in Koper restaurant in the town center.

What advice would you give future students headed to Celje?

Do not worry, Slovenia is extremly peacefull and a very nice place, be curious and ask people about everything :).
