Experience in Cambridge, United Kingdom by Marie

What is it like to live in Cambridge? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It is a lovely and really fun city with loads of students.

There are shopping centres, a lot of restaurants from all over the world, coffee shops, pubs...

It is a beautiful city with parks and you can go wherever you want with a bike :)

What is student life like in Cambridge?

There are lots of students who come from around the world to study at the most famous universities and schools. Also there are many language schools which also attract international students.

For going out there are lots of pubs and clubs that have a good atmosphere and play music but they close early like everywhere in England.

How much does it cost to live in Cambridge?

The cost isn't good... barely anything is cheap in Cambridge. Everything is expensive, food, clothes and drinks. It's best to have a bike so at least you don't have to pay for the bus.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Cambridge? Do you have any advice to give?

I went to Cambridge as part of a programme organised by an international school, a language school. Due to this I did not have to worry about finding accommodation as everything was organised by the school.

For a month and a half I lived with a family from there in their house and I stayed in student accommodation for another month and a half. I really liked it.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

For food = NOTHING. They have fish and chips, and a special restaurant which only serves this dish. That's good but there's not much more.

As everyone knows, you shouldn't go to England if you want to eat good food.

They don't have tasty dishes over there.

But there are loads of international restaurants, serving Italian, French, Mexican, Spanish, Japanese cuisine... so I went to international restaurants ^^^

Where would you recommend visiting in Cambridge?

Wander around the city centre, along the River Cam, visit the various beautiful and historical colleges like the most famous one, Kings College.

And where would you recommend to eat in Cambridge? What are your favourite places to eat?

I remember I really liked Nando's (Portuguese) and Nanamexico (Mexican obviously)

Where would you recommend going out in Cambridge?

I went nearly two years ago now so I think it may have changed.

But I really liked the club "Revolution", then there was club Fez, Ballare or the pub The Regal which are great places to dance.

Any advice for future students going to Cambridge?

ENJOY :D

And hire a bike:) it's super practical.
