What is it like to live in Caen? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Caen is my birth city and I like to live in. It's student city with a castle, a port and a Mémorial.

What is the student lifestyle like in Caen?

It's a student city with many sports and cultural activities (swimming pool, rink, clubs of sport, bars,... )

How much does it cost to live in Caen?

I don't know about others cities in France but I think it's not so expensive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Caen? Is there any advice you can give?

I don't know about accommodation, I know that there is student accommodation.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

We eat very well in France, you can find all you need with market, supermarket, local or from other countries, biologic or not.

Oh I like the old French food like tête de veau and langue de boeuf haha!

What places would you recommend visiting in Caen?

The castle is beautiful with a museum, churches, the port too with beers bar for the nights, the Memorial, and some other museum.

Is it good to eat out in Caen? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are like in other cities a McDonald's, a Quick, a Chiken House, a O Tacos, and a KFC. But if you want to eat very good burgers, you need to go to Burger Street, Atelier du Burger or Pré en Ville (it's a supermarket too). Moreover if you want gastronomic restaurants you could go to Rue du Vaugeux, it's the road for restaurants, and on the port too. On the port there are some bars which make dishes with cheese and charcuterie very good.

Is the nightlife good in Caen? Where is it good to go?

Yes the nightlife is good, you could go on the port for good beers (Trappist, Délirium) or Rue Ecuyère (it's THE road bar in Caen). Then there are nightbar like L'Écume des Nuits ou L'Orient Express (with billards), and there are discotheques like What's, L'Icône, and others.

What advice would you give future students heading to Caen?

Go to the Délirium and enjoy the city !
