Have you ever wished to fly to the Maledives but that it somehow doesn't work, because as a student, one is short in cash? No problem! If you are looking for a price-worthy holiday and enjoy discovering quiet and "hidden places", you are not exactly wrong in Turkey.

If you have looked for a holiday-place such as e. g: Antalya, you can also enjoy a Maledives landscape in Turkey: at the Salda Lake in Yeşilova/Burdur.

The Salda Lake is about 154km away from Antalya and can be reached by bus in about 2 hours. The travel costs are not really expensive and are about 20€-30€. Since Burdur is a bit more away from the tourist areas, you may have to go there with smaller buses, as the big buses such as Pamukkale, Komil Koo, Metro, etc. do not always go there. That is why you should inquire and ask.

Why is this lake turquoise and the stones white? This is exactly the question I asked myself and asked the locals. The answer was: it contains magnesium, alumina and soda (salt mineral). The lake has been visited more frequently by tourists for several years, as researchers have suggested that the earth is supposed to be good for skin problems such as pimples (acne). The Salda Lake is 184m deep, making it the 3rd deepest lake in Turkey. Even if the water looks quite calm and clean, the clay creates a mud- and moor-like layer. That's why you should be careful where you step on, because the earth pulls you along very strongly, as well as the water.

If you decide to visit Lake Salda in October or November, you can look forward to many chrysanthemum plants. These are called "Kas'mpat" in Turkish and contain the word "Kasam", which translates to as "November". These plants are very typical of autumn. In addition, the lake is known for its animals: also in autumn you can find various ducks here. Four different species of fish can also be found in Lake Salda: the carp, the "ot bal", which can only be found in the province of Burdur, "Salda yosun bal", which is only available in Lake Salda and the "Amur".

You will find several fish restaurants at the lake.
