What is it like to live in Buenos Aires? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Buenos Aires is often called the "Europe in South America" and it's even better because It's mix with Latin American culture. Definitely, Buenos Aires is a great city to study. There are many many important universities and also private schools that offer a great background in many fields. Also, the people are very nice, always willing to help and you'll never feel alone 'cause Argentinians are very open with their own groups or families so you'll always have new friends. The food is great, the party is awesome and money it's always going to last.
What is the student lifestyle like in Buenos Aires?
Student life is very fun. There are many places to go out and many students from all over Argentina and the world to meet. In Buenos Aires students do what most people do: Study and party. There are great universities and also great places to study like public libraries and people that are living the same experiences.
How much does it cost to live in Buenos Aires?
Buenos Aires is one of the most expensive cities in Argentina, but in comparison with European cities, it's more affordable. Food, party and public transportation have great prices so you won't have problems with that. Only cloth could be a little expensive...
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Buenos Aires? Is there any advice you can give?
You will definitely have to pay attention to accommodation. Here in Buenos Aires is not that common to rent shared rooms, so be careful when you have to find a student apartment. There are neighbourhoods that are more expensive and have the "fame" to be the "most secure ones", but it's more like a myth. You could get a nice studio apartment in the center of the city for 300 dollars which could be a great price! Try to look for offers in your universities, friends or official web pages. Try areas like Almagro, Villa Crespo, Villa Urquiza. They are less expensive than Palermo or Recoleta and as secure and nice.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food in Argentina is amazing!! Hello asado!! Here in Buenos Aires, you'll find great food at a great price. For meat lovers, you could go to a supermarket and get a nice stake for a few bucks. Also "milanesas", salads and great vegan o vegetarian choices are available. Definitly try ice cream here (pretty similar to the italian gelatto) and pastries.
What places would you recommend visiting in Buenos Aires?
Not only you can go to the typical monuments, but also try to see different areas like Palermo, Almagro, Villa Crespo, Villa Urquiza. Different neighbourhoods that are not that touristy but it's where Argentinians live. Of course don't miss San Telmo, the oldest area in town, but try to be careful with thieves or pickpockets.
Is it good to eat out in Buenos Aires? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
You have a great offer of breweries, parillas(to eat meat) for only a few bucks... Always try to find the more hidden places. You' ll eat amazingly in what Argentinians call "bodegones". Look for "Bellagamba". It's in many zones and it's SUPER AFFORDABLE!
Is the nightlife good in Buenos Aires? Where is good to go?
The nightlife is amazing. Here Argentinians go out pretty late. They arrive at clubs at around 2.30 am!! It sounds crazy, but it's a different and fun way to change it up a little bit. Also, they are amazing bars like "Gran Bar Danzon", "La Florería del Atlántico", "Presidente Bar" and "Anasagasti". Great places to eat and drink properly. If you want a cheaper place you can go to the thousand brewerie houses they have to have great beer and food.
What advice would you give future students heading to Buenos Aires?
Buenos Aires it's a great multicultural city to live and study. Maybe for Europeans, the first time you arrive could be very VERY different, but It will worth it. You will have fun and make great friends for life.
