Sziget Festival
Finally, the big day was here and we went to the Sziget Festival. It is located on the island in Budapest, just around 15 minutes from the city centre. I felt so excited. I heard many information about the festival but I did not know what to expect exactly. Some people told me that it is totally different than czech festivals. Firstly, we just decided to buy a ticket for Friday and Saturday and see how it works. Although, we wanted to stay there until Monday in the best scenario. Our plan was waking up early in the morning to go to the festival as soon as it was possible but it took us a long time to have a breakfast and move to the right place. The weather was already sunny. We took some random bus towards the island and then we were walking. It was tiring because we had a big frame backpack, tent, sleeping bags and camping mat. In fact, David was carrying most of these things and I felt grateful for it because I totally hate frame backpack.
They say that Sziget Festival is one of the best festivals in Europe – sometimes even the best one. The first reason is the weather. Of course, nobody can say that weather will be amazing there because it is unpredictable. Although last past years it was always sunny and the nights were warm. Such weather makes people feel relaxed and the atmosphere is great. Another reason is a line up. When I first saw the advertisement about this festival I had to read it at least twice. It was unbelievable for me because I am used to seeing two amazing interprets at one festival at maximum but when I read this one I was amazed. There was one singer better than another. My two favourite bands were there – Muse and Sum41 and it was not everything. It is also festival with many types of music – from metal to gypsy or indie music.
Budapest is also one of the well-known places in Europe. Visiting the festival gives you a great opportunity to see the city also. Moreover, the island can seem as a cool spot for a festival because there are many green fields and forests to hide from the sun. The festival has also special agreement with Budapest transportation and you can buy a city pass together with your festival ticket. With city pass you can use all transportation - boat included and you have also a ticket to the thermal baths. We bought a city pass for 2 days and it was a great idea. We took a ride by boat, we travelled by metro and last but not least we went to the thermal baths. You can relax there and it is a nice change after or before the festival. They offer cold and warm baths. You can also go inside the sweat room.
Approximately 60 different nationalities go to this festival because Hungary is well-located. We saw there many French, Dutch, German, Belgian and Hungarian people. You can hear many languages there and the vibes can seem to be unique (thanks to the friendly atmosphere). The island is pretty busy and people are sociable. Therefore, you have many chances to try new activities or meet new people there. For party animals, there is a party all night long. I did not know about it and first day was for me quite hard with sleeping. But I got used to it and following days I was so tired that I fell asleep easily. I was staring at the bars in amazement. When we were about to go sleep the party was wild and there were people dancing everywhere. All the bars were crowded.
Regarding accommodation, you have many options at the festival. The ticket includes basic camping. Basic camping means that you can camp almost wherever you want to on the island. If you want to have more showers and swimming-pool there is also VIP camp. Unfortunately, when we decided to go, VIP camp was already sold out. You can also find any accommodation in Budapest. Everybody was telling me that camping belongs to the festival and it is a real experience. In my opinion, it was real terrible experience! I am not a fun of camping at all. The only reason why I agreed was that we did not have to pay for it extra money and we did not have to move further when we wanted to sleep. Moreover, we could leave all our things there and take everything from the tent whenever we wanted to.
The good thing about such festival is its size. Therefore, I was not afraid that we would be bored during our 4 days there. Except for normal concerts, they had many dancing performance, circus, art zone, bars, beach, food and sport area. In addition, they organized a special party at the main stage every day at 7 pm. The festival already started on Wednesday but 7 day and 5 day pass was sold out and whole week at the festival seemed to me quite long after all.
Each festival has specific rules. At this one, you are allowed to take 1. 5 litres of non alcoholic drinks, unlimited food but no alcoholic drinks. We wanted to try it anyway because we were wondering if they really control everybody. On our way there we bought some rum so we could mix it with a coke. When we found the place we had to wait in a line to exchange our tickets for bracelet. There were many people everywhere. When we entered the place, the festival already looked alive. The entrance gate looks great. There are many flags, signs and you have to cross the bridge to get there. We hid our alcohol into the bag with tent. I was walking towards to guy at the control place and he wanted to see content of my backpack. Therefore, I started to show him everything and when he noticed my plush sheep pillow he just said: “Well, that´s enough. You can go. ” He did not control David after and we were happy to take there some alcohol with us for free. Although with controlling tickets it was not so easy. Our second day there we saw bunch of guys wearing the yellow t-shirt saying "stuff" and they randomly stopped people to show them their ticket. At least it was not our problem because we had a ticket for Friday and Saturday.
The first thing we needed to do was finding a right place for camping. The island was huge. For me, totally different thing was that you could camp everywhere on the island! It was not divided into areas for camping and for concerts. It was all together. Nevertheless, finding a great place showed as the most difficult task. Since we did not arrive there first day, we had a lot of problems. All spots were full. People were camping also on a normal way or in a bush. I was waiting for David to find a right place. In the beginning, we found one spot near to the stages but there were only few tents which was suspicious. Later, some guys came and they told us that it was not possible to camp there. Therefore, we had to find another place. It took as at least one hour and it was quite annoying. We were looking for a place but everything near was full. We had to walk towards the other side of the island and it was impossible to camp near the main road. We moved to the centre with all tents. The only thing we found was a hill and we decided to camp in the middle of the hill. Later, we found out it was not the cleverest idea because we were sliding down whole night. Even worse was that many people went there to do whatever instead of going to the toilets. I would say that we started to hate our place for sleeping immediately after first night. But we did not spend there much time anyway.
When we had a place where to sleep we went to explore the island. It seemed to me huge. There were many camping areas, place called beach, art zone, circus, stages, bars, food places and so on. At the festival, you could not pay by cash anywhere and at same places you could not even pay by card. They had a special top up points where you could buy the card and then you could charge it with money and pay with the card. It was great because there were almost no lines for the food and it was faster. When we wanted to convert Hungarian forint into Czech crowns we just divided the price 10. It was fun. Normally, Hungary is supposed to be cheap country although prices at the festival were so overpriced. Everything was expensive. Once we paid 250 Czech crowns for fried cheese in a bread roll and normally, the price of this food is around 50 Czech crowns. So it was five times more expensive. The price of a beer was 65 Czech Crowns (2 euros), which was comparable to the festivals in the Czech Republic. I also liked that you could buy the beer draught or in a bottle because sometimes we were heading to the concert and we just bought some beers in a can so we could drink them without coming back.
First day
First day was already full of fan. Two years ago we went to the Colours festival in Ostrava which is probably one of the most favourite festivals in the Czech Republic. We spent there four days and I liked the most John Newman, Bastille and Manu Chao. I don’t know how it is possible but exactly these bands and singer were performing in Budapest on Friday. I could not wait to see them again!
I already knew that my two friends from work were going to the festival as well. They came on Wednesday and they spent a whole week there. In fact, I did not expect meeting them at the festival. But since we were only two with David, we decided to meet up because it is always better in a bigger group at the festival. We met near the main stage at Casa Bacardi and it became our meeting point. It was just a big bar with drinks made of Bacardi with palm trees and VIP upper floor.
We went directly to see some band together at the small stage and I was already in a good mood with my summer clothes, beer and good music. Afterwards, we all went to the main stage to see John Newman. Two years ago I was totally crazy about his song Love me again. I guess that I listened to it hundred times. I already saw his concert in Ostrava but I was excited anyway. We managed to be in the front because we went there early. He never sings alone. He has always at least three singers with him. He started his concert with the song Losing sleep which I like. Even though I am his big fan and I love his voice I have to admit that he is too confident. To be honest, I would not say that he looks attractive. Nevertheless, I did not mind seeing him dancing and showing him off because that´s what I want to see alive – show (in comparison to Sia). Since we were in the front I saw almost everything and I enjoyed the concert much. Josue also took me on his shoulders so I had an amazing view during Love me Again. The bad thing is that he does not have many songs. I was surprised I did not know all of them because I thought I did. When he finished I wanted to stay at the same place so bad but since we had many beers I had to go to the toilets. Unfortunately.
I was running to the toilets to be quickly back for Bastille. They have 45 minutes between concerts but people were naturally already waiting there after John´s Newman concert without going somewhere else. I was shocked when I saw the toilets at the festival. It was the first time when I saw they had normal toilets and some of them were even clean and they always had toilet paper. That´s why I always wanted to go there instead of normal festival ones haha. In addition, you did not have to wait long time normally. Only after big concert when all people came there at one moment.
Between concerts there was a flag party. Normally, every day there was a party at the main stage at 7 pm. I liked this idea much. They were playing same song each evening and they were counting out the time. This evening it was a flag party. We were supposed to take flag from our country and went there. We did not have any but our friends had a Mexican flag. It was cool because you could see many nationalities there.
We were trying to get to the front again but it was too late. We had a good spot anyways. I don’t normally listen to the Bastille at home but they are amazing alive. I have always fancy for hearing Dan Smith´s voice and I find him really sympathetic. I was searching for their name and it is interesting that they have name Bastille because the battle of Bastille has same date as Dan´s birthday. The most popular song from these guys is Pompeii. I was looking forward to hearing Oblivion because I always love romantic songs and this one was in my favourite serial the vampire diaries. I already heard it thousand times at home and it felt amazing when I heard it there, alive. It seemed to me like one second because I enjoyed every minute of the song. They had a nice show.
We did not plan on staying at the main stage for another concert but we saw our friends and we decided to stay there for the beginning of Manu Chao. Since many people could not stand staying and waiting there, they left and we got to the front – literally we were standing in a second row! I did not know more than one song from Manu Chao but I decided to try it. When stay started it was crazy. Everybody was jumping from one side to another side. I enjoyed this concert lots even though I don’t listen to these guys. They were so into their music and it was in Spanish! In the end, we stayed there until the end of the concert! After all, we were totally exhausted. It was around midnight and we just finally had some food (we did not have time for it before) and we went sleep.
The first night was the worst night for me. I was not used to camping and I did not expect music playing whole night at all. Therefore, it woke me up many times during the night and every time when I heard some voices or noise I was scared that someone could step on me or into our tent. Moreover, I was sliding down whole night. When I woke up it seemed to me that I did not sleep at all.
Second day
This day was supposed to be the best one! For me, it was unbelievable that I could see Sum41 and Muse in one weekend. I was dying to see both of them. The first concert was Muse and it started at 9. 30. Therefore, we had much time before the concert started. In the morning we decided to do some shopping because we had a normal ticket and we could leave the festival and come back. We went to the nearest shopping mall to buy some food and we had finally a normal breakfast, smoothie and coffee. At the earliest, I thought that we could go to the city centre of Budapest but it was quite far, we were tired and there were many activities at the festival anyway. At the festival, there is also a big sign Sziget– same one as in Amsterdam. Of course I took a picture there.
During the afternoon we randomly met our friend and he was throwing balloons with water at everybody. In the beginning, it was fun because people were just staring at everybody and they did not know who did it. It was all right because the weather was warm enough. We were listening Bring me the horizon at the screens. Even though the music was quite hard I liked their show a lot! We were just sitting near the main stage and there were controllers of tickets again. We saw them that day at least 8 times.
We were sitting on the ground with our beers and we were playing the cards – Whist. It was quite difficult for me to describe the rules in English. I don’t know how it happened but I was a winner. This time we had an amazing kebab! For a drink, we took our rum with coke and it was delicious. It was already time to go to the main stage to see Muse. My friend from Hungary was coming that evening and we agreed on meeting after the concert. I was dying to wait for Muse in the front anyway.
We went to the Colour Party (the main one which is every day at 7pm). They were throwing powder with colours to the crowd. We took few of them. I was already wearing my Muse white t-shirt. In the beginning, when I got this t-shirt for Christmas from David, I had no idea that I could wear it so many times! It is perfect for the festival and even better for Muse concert. I liked this party the most. We were counting the time and exactly at 7 pm everybody opened their powder and threw it into the air! Everybody was immediately colourful and dirty! I loved it. The pictures looked amazing.
We stayed in the front and we were waiting for the band which had a performance before Muse. Their name was Sigur Rós. When I checked the time it seemed to me that we were supposed to wait for ages! In fact, it was 2. 5 hours but it was still a lot! I had also no idea that Sigur Rós is the most boring band I have ever seen. No jokes. I mean, they were not bad. They were just playing so slow. It was perfect for falling asleep. I checked the time many times during their concert. In the meantime, we met new people from Italy and from Belgium. It was nice to talk with them and share opinions about the gigs at the festival and their country. It was really long but it was definitely worth it. Finally, it was the time for Muse.
When they came I felt so enthusiastic. There were so many people! It was unbelievable. When I looked back the place for totally overcrowded. People were standing everywhere. Muse were starting with their melody from Drones naturally. They had a quite similar playlist as in Prague. Even though we did our hardest and we were in the front, my experience about Muse concert was better from Prague. There were less people, they had a better stage (which was turning around), I could be closer to them and they had better effects – visual ones and light ones. Anyways, it was the best concert of the festival for me. I again convinced myself how I love them and Matthew was more than amazing. In the middle of the stage there was a narrow part going to the front – closer to the audience. When Matt was walking with his guitar to the narrow part, we could see him from the back while the light was shining directly on him. It was awesome! I loved the show, the atmosphere, the music and I felt more than happy. We were dancing and clapping and shouting as crazy. In addition, they were playing some old songs and they had again balloons and white papers resembling snow. It was unforgettable show.
After this concert, the atmosphere was extremely live and all bars were busy. There was a party everywhere! I forgot to mention one place I liked a lot. Every day there was one stage where they had foam and bubble party. During the day, there was a foam party and during the night there was a bubble party. I love these parties. Therefore, every time when we passed this place I wanted to go there. We went there only during the night for a bubble party. Around 2 am, we got tired and we went sleep.
Regarding charging points and internet, it was not convenient. There were few charging points but you had to pay for it and there was always a big queue. There were also few places with wifi but since my phone already died first day I did not need to use them. Instead of solving it, I decided to be few days without my phone which was actually freeing because I am quite obsessed with checking my phone whole day. And we were taking pictures on another phones anyway.
This time, we decided to explore showers. We went there around 1 am to avoid waiting and it was a good idea. The showers looked much better than showers at Colours festival in Ostrava. There were many of them and there was hot water and I could even use a dryer. When I found a place with wifi which was working I tried to contact my Hungarian friend Orsy to meet her but it was already too late and they came to the festival only for one night. I felt quite sad because I don’t know when I will have another possibility to see her but I was happy that she enjoyed Muse concert at maximum also.
We also found a place called Before I die where you could write everything what you would like to do in your life. I was so unhappy when we went there because it was already closed at midnight. In general, I am keen on these types of activities. There was also Luminariumwhich was always full of people and around midnight it was again closed. Except for this, we were walking during the night and they had an amazing decoration there. On the one place, there were mirrors in the trees. Subsequently we saw lamps on the ropes and then dress and Chinese lantern.
Sunday
In the morning we went to the KFCto have some coffee because we already felt tired after one day. I had a chocolate shake and David took a coffee shake. We were walking like dead and the weather was hot. Everything changed when we were back at the festival and we started to drink a beer.
When we were back we decided to check a beach place. On our way there we noticed that there were many organizers controlling the tickets. That´s why we decided not to cheat and buy another ticket for Sunday. It was again 65 euro. I was little bit disappointed to pay another ticket because we already spent a lot of money but we wanted to enjoy the festival and not to check controller all the time.
When we were at the “beach”, I was quite disappointed because I thought that we could swim in the river but they had barriers there and it was impossible. There were again many places to grab a beer, have some food or take a rest. One of the favourite ones was always full. We also saw some guided sleeping but it was already too late to go there. They had also many places where we could have shisha. We took our blanket and we were sleeping for one hour just on the ground…
5pm was time for Sum41. Before them, Hungarian band called Halott Pénz was playing. I quite liked their music but I was excited for Sum41. I remembered seeing these guys at Rock for People few years ago. I am crazy about some their songs and I always run while listening to their music. They are special for me because they can greatly combine fast and motivating music with slow romantic parts. Reason to Believe is a perfect example. Lately, I started to love their song Sick of everyone and I listen to it when I am in a bad mood. I was quite scared to be in the front because last time when I was there another people were insane and I fell down during their concert. This time it was all right because we went to their concert quite late and we were in the front but not in a second row or something. They were incredible! The main singer Deryck Whibley is crazy. He can make a stunning show. He was trying to get everything from us and he was energetic and he did not call us another way than motherfuckers. He asked us to make a circle pit already in the beginning. The circle pit means that people make a space in the middle of a crowd and when the song starts people jump and dance in a circle like crazy. It is too crazy for me so I decided to skip it and I was just staring at people doing it. There were mainly big guys who did not care about anything.
Except for songs like Fat Lip, In too Deep and Still Waiting I fell in love with a new song. I was surprised that I did not know it before. After the festival, I searched for it and it is We are all to blame. Some parts of this song are too hard but when it stops and Deryck sings slower part I can not get enough of it. I was enjoying this concert at maximum. I was jumping and singing a lot. There were two another girls in my age and it was amazing to share our happiness together. They came from another country just to see Sum41. I stayed at the concert alone because everybody left to the toilets. When they started to play a romantic song Pieces we were all hugging each other and the atmosphere was wonderful. I made sure that these guys are fascinating.
After this, we had some food and I felt little bit drunk from all the beers and rum we had. We took a rest. During the evening, there was a concert of David Guetta. I was looking forward to see him because my friends went to his concert few months ago and they liked it a lot. We were too tired to be in the front so we just decided to watch it from far away. When he started to play I liked the music. Later, it started to be tiring and I realized that it is something totally different. Since David Guetta is only a DJ, he was playing the songs that he had prepared before and the only thing he did was turning it off for some words and that was all. He was even taking pictures on his phone during the concert. In fact, I did not like it much. It was same as if I listen to the music at home. It was all about party. Therefore we decided to sit and listen to the concert from far away. I could not believe it but I fell asleep during the concert.
After this, we experienced an amazing activity! Since beginning we were watching a lot of activities going on at the festival. They had an art zone and sport zone. In sport zone they had two types of jumps. They also had there a whole circus or bungee jumping. All of this was for extra money. We wanted to go for a jump since beginning. After David Guetta concert, we were walking towards smaller jump. Unfortunately, it was closed. That´s why we went to the other one. It was jump from 8 metres but when we were watching another people it did not look scary. People just climbed up and then they jumped into a big air mattress. We did not hesitate at all and we just bought two tickets. David went first and I was taking pictures of him. I was shocked that he jumped head first! It looked amazing.
I was excited to go also. In the beginning, I was joking that maybe I was not going to jump and I started climbing up. When I was upstairs (still little bit drunk), I realized that it was not a good idea at all. When I saw look down I got so scared. Seriously. I tried to go to the edge but I was not able to jump. The guy who was working there just said: “There are no instructions. You can jump however you want to. ” It was not so easy. I was standing there with a guy in suit also. He was freaking out. He was like: “What did I do? I can not jump! ”. I tried again to go to the edge but I did not jump. Crazy. I did not know what to do. I was so scared but at the same time I did not want to go down because we already paid for the ticket. They guy working there was staring at me like crazy. Then, the guy in suit jumped. When I saw him in the mattress I knew I had to do it as well. I just closed my eyes and I was telling myself: “It is totally safe. Just jump. ” I have to say that it was so hard to do it. I overcame myself and I jumped! It was amazing for me when I saw the mattress down. I had such a great feeling that I could not even describe it. I was happy to had done it! So jump from 8 metres done! (bucket list)
This night we were drinking a little bit later and we went to some party places. We also saw a performance of some group. They were doing some tricks on the ropes and they were high in the air. Sleeping in our tent became demanding and we were already fed up with it. In addition, it was far from everything. When I wanted to take something from our tent we had to walk around 15 minutes. This day, we finally tasted typical Hungarian Langos and it was big and delicious. This day, there was a confetti party.
Monday
On Monday, we decided to cheat and we did not buy a ticket for this day. We decided to try it without it. Someone told us that if they find you without the ticket you have to immediately leave the place without anything. In our case, it would be a problem since we had everything in our tent and probably we would have to buy a ticket again. Anyway, we were hoping for the best. I wanted to stay there because Sia was coming. I like few of her songs a lot and I was curious about her concert. Since we were already exhausted we decided to sleep a lot. We went to our tent after the breakfast and we were sleeping almost until 2 pm.
We were again drinking during the afternoon. I bought a mojito to celebrate that my mum was accepted to the new job. It was small and expensive but delicious. At the festival, they had many possibilities what to eat. They had pizza, kebab, Chinese food, juices, ice-creams, grill, hot dogs and everything. We were trying everything and it was super overpriced.
Whole day we already saw many fans of Sia. There were even guys wearing a wig with white and black colour as Sia does. We decided to see the concert before Sia to be in the front. There was a band called High flying birds. I did not expect anything from this day and I was nicely surprised. During the afternoon, we saw a concert of Years and years from far away. I did not pay attention to them much but I started to like them. The main singer was sympathetic and he was gay. He was even having the special LGBT flag. In general, I liked their music but I fell in love with their song Eyes shut. Immediately after the festival, I downloaded the song I listened to it many times! It is amazing.
For High flying birds we went to the front. I did not know that the main singer is from the band Oasis which I admire a lot. The music was great but the best part was when they started to sing the song Wonderwall. During my years at the university, we were singing this song so often! I know whole lyrics. Therefore, David took me on his shoulders and I saw everything. Some girls did not care at all about this band because they were just sitting on the ground writing something or reading something and they were evidently waiting only for SIA.
Then we were waiting for SIA also. It was the worst part. People were insane. They were pushing each other a lot and everybody was sweating a lot. It was already 9 pm and concert was supposed to start at 9. 30. We were terrible squeezedwhole time. At least we made a lot of friends there. We met one cool couple from Scotland and they were funny.
Festivals are different from normal concerts because everybody has to follow the schedule and it happens sometimes that bands don’t even have time to properly say good-bye or introduce the members of the band. That´s why they are almost always on time. SIA was an exception. She was the only one we saw who was late for 20 minutes. I did not like that because we could not almost breathe and I felt so hot in the crowd even though the temperature of the air was low. When she came, people went crazy. I already knew that is it normal for her not to show her face and just sing but I did not realize that it could be a problem. In general, I was not satisfied with the concert at all. I did not mind her hiding and singing in the beginning but it became quite boring. She had with her some dancers – the girl who is always in the clip and a guy. There were amazing! They are both so talented. There was always different colour on the screen and they had a special performance for every song. Although Sia was just standing in the back singing. I did not like it because I would say that we could not even recognize if she was real and it reminded me listening to the music only from the computer, not alive. I know that it was part of her show but she did not show any interest and she said only hello and good-bye. I expected much more. At least she was singing amazingly. Moreover, I did not like people at the concert. Since she was singing quite slow songs, nobody was dancing and people use it as an advantage and they were recording the concert whole time and they were taking many pictures. That´s why I could mainly see some hands with phones.
It was our last night but we were too tired to party. Moreover, when everybody left I already felt sick. I could not believe it but directly after the concert I had a sore throat. The bad thing was that I was too squeezed in a crowd only in some short top and shorts and later when people walked away I felt so cold. Nevertheless, it took me a lot of time to get to my tent to take a sweater. I felt terrible. We wanted to see another concert but we went there at the last minute and the stage was already full and they did not allow us to enter. I felt so sorry because it was a concert that David wanted to see a lot. We did our last walk at the festival, we tried Luminarium which was closed again and we wanted to see Before I die but there were controllers. We also took a shower and we went sleep because we had to get up early in the morning – around 7.
Last day
When we woke up at 7 am after sleeping five hours in that bad conditions, we felt horrible. We had to pack everything and catch our bus at 9 am – Student Agency. We checked everything and we were packing all clothes and tent. When we were done I already knew that something went wrong. I felt sick. I could barely speak and I just wanted to drink a tea. When I met my friend Sasa, she was telling me she got sick after this festival and I was worried about it since beginning. Nevertheless, I did not really think it could happen with sunny weather of 30 degrees. It happened. It was even worse to take my frame backpack to the bus station and travel with it. It took us ages to get to the bus station because the island is huge. We started to be worried if we could catch the bus because public transportation was delayed.
Our journey to Nepliget station took ages. The bus went slowly and then we had to take metro. David was telling me that we did not have enough time to catch the bus. I did not believe it. We had checked everything before and we got up early! I was hoping for the best. Sometimes international bus is delayed or they are waiting for people. We were running from metro like crazy to find Student Agency. We were already 5 minutes late. We came fast to the bus station but we never saw the right bus. We rapidly asked one guys about advice and he told us to cross the road to go to the second station. When we arrived there the bus was already gone.
In the beginning I was shocked. How this could happen? I was asking myself. We evidently made a mistake. We should have planned it better! The price for the bus was not high but the worse was that I realized that it could be more difficult to book another bus because of the festival. We felt desperate. We did not feel well, we had all thing and we just wanted to go home. When we saw sign McDonald we decided to go there to have something to eat and have wifi and check all possibilities. It was supposed to be 800 metres distant. We were walking at least 1. 5 kilometres and we realized we were walking wrong direction. We just took a tram back and we took a metro to find McDonald. We were quite happy to find it but just for a moment because when we checked Eurolines, Student Agency and trains we found out that all of them were sold out until Friday! And it was Tuesday. I could not believe it. I was so pissed off. Why did not we go earlier? I was asking myself. I was trying to be calm because I think I had a temperature and I just wanted to get home. We tried to contact someone through Blablacar and we were also considering hitchhiking. We had a breakfast and coffee and then we just decided to go to the bus station for next Student. It went in two hours. We were hoping that maybe someone missed the bus as we did.
We went there at 11 and the bus was supposed to go at 11. 15 am. When we saw a huge queue and all people I was sure it was hopeless to wait there. When we asked the driver he just said we had to wait until everybody with the ticket is in the bus. It was funny that this bus was late but the one we missed was on time. When everybody was inside, we met a guy who was in a same situation as we were and he was there earlier than us. It was a bad coincidence. We needed to find three places. The driver said he would check the bus. When he came to us, we were staring at him and hoping for the best. He just answered: Go inside! I felt so relieved. We even had seats next to each other! It was a miracle. Moreover, the price of the ticket was same. Later on, we found out that the other guy was sitting at the seat where they normally don’t accept people. Thanks to the driver and guy from Student Agency we got home! We were so happy. I was just watching Friends in the bus for the rest of the day. I could not sleep because of my illness but I had many amazing unforgettable memories. The festival was definitely worth it and I had awesome time there!
