Best of Budapest Part 2
Since I explored most of the sites by walk the day before, I was feeling quite familiar with the city now. The people were very friendly and jolly so I was in my comfort zone. Before leaving my hostel I checked the map and found out that St. Stephens Basilica was just at short walking distance, therefore I avoided taking any tram. I bought a chocolate croissant, some cookies and water on the way for my breakfast.
Quite soon I found myself waiting impatiently for the signal to turn green, so I could go across the road and see that beauty from closer. Another magnificent dome shaped rooftop. The sculptures, the doors the windows would force anyone to take a look inside as well.
The peace and serenity inside is beyond words. The painting and sculptures, the wiggling candles, the feeling of receiving the blessings can calm anyone regardless of his or her faith.
After spending some time there, I continued my journey and arrived at the Opera House. I liked the building, didn’t go inside though. I felt that the banner over it was somehow making it look bad.
My next destination was the Hero’s Square. It was full of tourists but yes it was big enough to accommodate us all without feeling being in a congested place. A quick look on Wikipedia revealed that it was “noted for its iconic statue complex featuring the Seven Chieftains of the Magyars and other important Hungarian national leaders, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. ” Took a lot of pictures there and saw others taking photos. Sometimes observing people is good. I felt everyone was happy and positive. It was one of the times when you want everything to be paused and your optimism is restored for a better future.
To ponder over life more, I went to the City Park closer by and sat there for may be an hour or even more. I enjoyed the sun, watched the pigeons and the dried maple leaves on the green grass. I saw people coming and going. There was a group of high school boys probably doing training for football or some other sport, watched them running around the big pond in the middle for a while.
Soon I realized that I didn’t have all life to stay in Budapest, and was actually supposed to take my bus to Warsaw the very same night. I was tired of walking all day, therefore this time I took a tram to Margaret Island. Nature is always peaceful and so was this Island. If you go there, make sure not to miss the dancing fountain. There were people of all ages sitting around and enjoying the Hungarian version of songs which were mostly taken from Disney Movies.
I was invited by a Pakistani friend of mine for dinner. He was staying in a dormitory, so I got a chance to take a look on the hostel life of Budapest as well. He treated me with delicious “Chicken Palao”- a Pakistani Dish which he cooked himself.
And not to forget what I saw from the kitchen window. Well my 13mp camera couldn’t capture it well; still I would like to share this photo of people paragliding above the mountains. Yes those black marks are not birds but flying humans.
My friend was nice and responsible enough to drop me till the bus stop and say me a good bye and nice journey ahead. So that was my trip to Budapest and is certainly among my best trips ever.

Hi Saba! I was in Budapest last week and I also think that is a beautiful city. I didn't go to "Hero Square", but now that I saw your article, I also see the picture of this famous square!Actually our trip was very different. I also go to the "Margaret island", but I didn't go to "Opera" and I go to the "Fisherman Bastion", that you should have seen, because it is very beautiful!
