My experience in Bucharest, Romania by Geoffrey
How did you find living in Bucharest? Could you recommend it? What is the city like?
It's very cold in winter and hot in summer. The city is 150km from the mountains, 200km from the sea and the public transport is well developed.
I would recommend Bucharest, mainly because each faculty has a French-speaking section.
What is student life like in Bucharest?
Better than in Paris or Lille!
What is the cost of living like in Bucharest?
A studio in the centre of Bucharest costs around 200€.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Bucharest? Any advice?
It is easier when you are in Romania or if you look at societies such as http://www.bucharexpat.com.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Sarmale with mămăligă (and a bit of branza).
Where do you recommend visiting in Bucharest?
The parks and the historic part of the old town.
And to eat?
Hanul Manuc, a traditional restaurant in the old part of town.
Where is best to go out in Bucharest?
Every bar in Bucharest has its own charm and is worth a visit.
Any advice for future Erasmus students in Bucharest?
Be careful when looking for accommodation because a lot of landlords increase the rent for foreign nationals.
