What is it like to live in Bucharest? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I didn't like it too much. I figured if you're into fake living where everyone looks like they're trying to be the next Hollywood star and you like fast-paced living, with it's own red-light district of erotic massage parlors... then Bucharest is for you. I wasn't impressed at all. I prefer the town of Cluj Napoca over Bucharest any day. Even though the food is good, you barely have any options for Romanian food. I didn't come to Romania from California to eat the same quesadillas, and Italian food I'd eat in Cali! Not impressed at all.

What is the student lifestyle like in Bucharest?

I don't know.

How much does it cost to live in Bucharest?

The cost of living in Bucharest is with the leu and the euro. It's only a little more expensive than the smaller cities, but the cost of living is still do-able with the exchange rate for the US dollar.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Bucharest? Is there any advice you can give?

It really depends what you're looking for. Hostels are nice in this area and so is the housing.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

If I had any Romanian food to taste, I would let you know. The food here is anything except Romanian. Very depressing, but still, of the food choice places I ate, they were very good quality.

What places would you recommend visiting in Bucharest?

The National Museum, the Old Town and the museum of peasant history.

"What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?"
It is such a pitty that you didn't try Romanian food in the Romanian restaurants..... ... of course if you choose the American or Italian franchise, you'll not find "ciorba de vacuta cu smantana" (beef sour soop with cream) nor "tochitura cu mamaliguta" (pork stew with polenta), nor "mici" (special recipe of meatlof on the grill) aso
If you'll come back one day, please contact me and I'll give you some hints :-)))
