What is it like to live in Bucharest? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

A city of contrasts, Bucharest is a city to be discovered. It is not presented on a silver platter. You need to get out of the car and walk. Take side streets, wander and explore. I love taking a different route every week. Trying a different restaurant every time I go out. There is plenty to choose from. Bucharest has a mixture of European and Eastern Arab traditions and cuisines.

What is the student lifestyle like in Bucharest?

It depends on whether you are a serious student or not. Plenty to do if you want to party, plenty to learn if you want to study.

How much does it cost to live in Bucharest?

It costs around 300Euros per month with food and lodging included. Bus tickets are about 30Eurocents, milk is 2Euros per litre, bread 30 eurocents and a beer about 1, 5Euros

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Bucharest? Is there any advice you can give?

Through friends and local hostels. Rentals often do not include utilities, so be careful with the price and the owner. Many request the first month in advance, some the entire period up front.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I love Cârnați.

What places would you recommend visiting in Bucharest?

You must take time to visit the Bucharest Museum by the university, the Cismigiu gardens, and the Obor market.

Is it good to eat out in Bucharest? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yumm! Our favorite is Sinbad's on Strada Lipscani, the French bakery's around the city. Prices are resonable and service is great, they are also open until late.

Is the nightlife good in Bucharest? Where is good to go?

A walk in Cismigiu is relaxing at any time of the year.

What advice would you give future students heading to Bucharest?

Go with an open mind. Be ready to experience things you have never seen before. Do not take things too personally and relax. You are not the most important person in the world and remember Romanians are tired of being steriotyped. Let them show you thier best side, before you judge them.
