Experience in Brno, Czech Republic by Silvester
What is it like to live in Brno? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Living in Brno as a student is wonderful, with lots of things to do, cheap entertainment, nature, parks, and everything in one place. I must say that I absolutely recommend Brno!
What is the student lifestyle like in Brno?
Drinking outside the bars, coming home late with the night buses, lots of parties in dorms, and meeting plenty of interesting people.
How much does it cost to live in Brno?
It really depends on your standards. For me: rent - 135€, food 100€ and parties/visiting places around 70€ monthly.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Brno? Is there any advice you can give?
No, just be careful about scammers and people who lie about the quality of accommodation.
What is the food like? What are your favorite dishes?
There are many good restaurants in Brno to visit. I love U Tomana, Nok Nok, Zlatá loď, and many others with the most traditional Czech food and BEER! You have to learn the word PIVO immediately when you arrive at Brno.
What places would you recommend visiting in Brno?
Hády, Lužánky park, Prýgl (Brno dam), Veveří castle, city centre, catacombs under the city centre, Planetarium
Is it good to eat out in Brno? Can you tell us your favorite spots?
YES! Everything in the center is worth trying, U Tomana, Nok Nok, Zlatá loď, Co Phe Co, GO,...
Is the nightlife good in Brno? Where is good to go?
Yes very good, EXIT is one of my favorite clubs.
What advice would you give future students heading to Brno?
Enjoy Brno, it might be shaded by Prague, but it's just underestimated. Make new friends, Czechs are very difficult people (mostly the older generation) but don't worry, once they get used to you you'll become close friends.
