What is it like to live in Brno? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Brno is often called "student city" because we have several universities in here and that is the reason why in the city is a lot of students. I deffinitelly would recommend stay in Brno because the city has so much to offer you.

What is the student lifestyle like in Brno?

We try to enjoy every day, going for a culture, to coffees and bars, just chill in parks or wlaking threw the city. From my poit of view it is also quite cheap to live in here for students.

How much does it cost to live in Brno?

You can find you room quite easily, there is a lot of offers. It depends if its shared or not, mostly the price id around 160 - 200 euros per room for one person. Food and drinks are for internationals quite chhep I think so.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Brno? Is there any advice you can give?

As I said before it is quite easy, but of course the situation is litte worse in September when a lot of students are looking for their acommodation. But our universities offered also student houses for internationals, so it depends on you.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

From my pit of view it is quite heavy but in czech you shoul deffinitely try goulash with dumplings, cabbage with dumplings and pork or sauce called svíčková. We have also a pretty good sweets and the most amazing "koláče" a "buchty".

What places would you recommend visiting in Brno?

The whole city centre. But for that I highly recommend our USE-IT map.; )

Is it good to eat out in Brno? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes it is. In past few years the city changed a lot in this way. There are nice cute litte bistro´s (for ex. Soul bistro or Fabric food factory) and a lot of restaurants (also a lot of vegetarian places etc. ). In Brno lot of restaurants offer during working days "lunch menus" when you mostly get a soup + main dish and that all togehter cost around 4 or 5 euros.

Is the nightlife good in Brno? Where is good to go?

Yes it is, the most frequent are fridays and Saturdays. There is a lot of pubs and clubs, so it depend what you want to do. In summer we preffer just chill outside, in parks with friends and beers. Most or bars and restaurants have their outside sitting places. Nice place is Bar, který neexistuje (quite expensive for Brno) or Výčep Na stojáka Jakubák.

What advice would you give future students heading to Brno?

Just go to the city centre and ejouy everything what brno oofers, it is lot of what to do in there!
