What is the student lifestyle like in Brasília?

I went to undergraduate school at Universidade de Brasília. There's a very strong student life there. Parties, seminars, research, it's a great place to study and make friends.

How much does it cost to live in Brasília?

If you want to live in the center (Plano Piloto) it's very expensive, you can find a shared room at a shared appartment (if you're lucky) for as low as R$500, about 150 euros. But usually you would have to pay about R$ 1000, 00 which is about 300 euros. Buses cost less then 1 euro and the metro too. To have lunch or dinner at the university's restaurant if you are a student it costs less than 1 euro too. Parties start at 7 euros just to enter and alcohol you would pay at party 2 euros for a brazilian beer.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Brasília? Is there any advice you can give?

Make friends wherever you are, they'll help you. There are always adds at the university's walls of people looking for a roomate. There's the newspaper too and many websites where you can find information. There are groups for that on Facebook too. I don't think it's too difficult.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Good brazilian food. For breakfast, coffee with fruit or a sandwich maybe ham and cheese. For lunch, we like to eat salad, rice, beans and a protein (chicken, beef or pork) and for dinner it depends on the person. A soup or a sandwich or repeat whatever is left from lunch. Food in Brazil is awesome.

What places would you recommend visiting in Brasília?

Ermida Dom Bosco, in which you have a nice view of the city; The central area, Esplanada dos Ministérios and Praça dos três Poderes, the TV tower. The markets we have around the city. Just take your bike and explore (:

Yes, we have good gastronomy. For pizza, Valentina at 215 Sul is a great place. For Mexican, Much Gusto. For Burgers, Hamburguer do Francês or Marvin's. For Brazilian barbecue, Potências do Sul, Porcão and Fogo de Chão.

Is the nightlife good in Brasília? Where is good to go?

We have indie parties (Moranga, La Ursa); nice pubs (O'reilley, Amsterdam); bars (Santuário, Shisha); rock party (Play!) and more.
