Situated at the top of the hill, St Luca's Sanctuary is one of the main attractions in Bologna. If you want to get off the beaten track, St Luca's sanctuary offers you one of the most stunning and marvellous views of the mountains that surround the city. However, not only is this place famous for its precious views but also for the path you have to take to arrive at the sanctuary. In order to arrive at St Lucas's Sanctuary, you must walk from Porta Saragozza and you will walk via a very long portico which was constructed to protect pilgrims from the rain. It is made up of 666 arches, making it the longest portico in the world.
