What is it like to live in Bochum? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It’s hard to live in Bochum since me and my little bro are looking for a shared flat but we don’t get any even though we are students in Bochum.

What is the student lifestyle like in Bochum?

It’s hard regarding the accommodation.

How much does it cost to live in Bochum?

We are still looking for accommodation right now, we are in a hostel which costs 800€ a month pretty much for a student who doesn’t work.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Bochum? Is there any advice you can give?

Absolutely hard, yeah my advice would be to keep some rooms available for international student because we come from some country like Africa and we don’t know anything about the system and there is no help desk for the accommodation yet we have study visas and whiling to carry on our studies but unfortunately the accommodation of 800€ a month for an African person with a family earning 800€ in 3 months is hard -but for education, we do all sacrifices.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is okay as a student who just arrived a month ago I throw my self in some Lidl o Aldi conserved food and kebab so o haven’t had much Germany traditional food since I have to go slow with money until my I know my destination with the accommodation because maybe I have to fly back to Africa.

What places would you recommend visiting in Bochum?

I don’t know much about Bochum I arrived a week ago but as soon as I get some good rounds out of the stress I will let you know.

Is the nightlife good in Bochum? Where is good to go?

I don’t know any yet since I just arrived.

What advice would you give future students heading to Bochum?

I would advise them to get accommodation before they come otherwise they should not come because it’s so hard to get one.
