Where to watch the sunset

I always felt like there was something magical in watching the sunset. This transformation of day into night when the cities really come to life with all the city life and lights enlightening the dark streets. All the spectacular colors you can see on a day without clouds: the shades of yellow, orange, red from the right place. So what is crucial here is being on the right place at the right time - choose a clear day and make sure that you get to the place before it is too late and the night has already covered the sky. Madrid offers you some spectacular sunsets if you know where to go. So I am going to show you some of the places where you can really experience that.

Terraza del Circulo de Bellas Artes

Terraza del Circulo de Bellas Artes has a perfect combination: it is lifted, in the center and it offers you a view of the so significant Metropolis building, Gran Via - the most famous street and all the other buildings around - you can make this iconic Madrid picture from there. However, you will have to pay in order to get there: it costs 4 € so if you do not wish to spend money on that, you can take a view from another terrace for a great sunset. There are several options for that in the center as many bars in Madrid are located in higher floors offering a nice view. However, this terrace offers the best view of them all.

Templo de Debod

The most famous place for watching sunset is Templo de Debod so do not expect tto be there on your own. A wonderful place with egyptian monument located inside a small pool will shine in a special way just before the sun sets. Many people taking photos but for a reason as he view is really great. And if you do not like to be among so many people, you can go to the small terrace just a bit ahead and watch the sun set at the horizon of park Casa de Campo.

Retiro park

I did not specify specific place in Retiro as you can choose several spots around it. You can choose position around the lake, one of the fountains, Cristal Palace, view of the funny multiheaded trees at the beginning of one of the entrances in the park and many others. What matters is that you will be able to see it through the trees. Retiro can get the romantic atmosphere at the time and it is some sort of peaceful time to visit it as it can be quite lively during the day - well, if you really want peaceful you should visit it early in the morning because most spanish people do not like to wake up very early (and same goes for me).

Parque de las siete tetas=El cerro del tio Pio

This park = Parque de las Siete Tetas (park of seven breasts) has such a name, because it consists of seven smaller hills. It is a bit further from the center so you will probably not be able to recognize most of the famous monuments of Madrid. From the metro station you have to go in the way of Alcampo and get on the hill just next to it and from there - 7 choices. If you do so, you will not end up like me getting on two other wrong hills first and get worried because the views from there are not nice and seeing that the sun has almost set. However, it still offers a spectacular view of the city because it is in a higher point and you will be able to sit on the grass. There will probably be several other people around you but do not worry - that is why there are more hills located there.

El faro de Moncloa

Alright, this one will actually have to come out as a disappointment because the watchtower remains closed. However, imagine seeing the cityview from up there - would it not be magical? So I am putting this one as a conditional one so: if you will be lucky to be in Madrid when they will already open the faro you could go there at the time of ''atardecer'' (sunset in spanish) and have a panoramic view of Madrid.
