My day today - 28/11

Today I finally managed to sleep in. I haven't been sleeping well the last five nights or so. I have either had nightmares or I have simply just stayed up too late and then had to get up early the next morning. But this morning I managed to sleep through my boyfriend's alarm, him rustling about in the bedroom and slept for an additional three hours after he left. Needless to say today was a fairly unproductive day. But at least I feel alive!

Instead of going to my office I decided to hang out at home and work on some personal projects and some work things from home. My choir's winter concert is coming up, so I practiced the Icelandic songs for about three hours today. Some of them are very difficult.. not necessary the music, but the language. There are a lot of vowels in Icelandic and it can be difficult to get them all out of my mouth, especially when the song has a fast pace. I still need some work, but the practice this morning really helped.

I also worked on some projects for this organization that I volunteer with. We have a meeting coming up in less than two weeks, so I have a lot to do before then. That was really pretty much my day.

In the evening I went to choir practice. I even got complimented on my ability to sing the songs in Icelandic so well (she must not have been listening so closely). I'm thankful for the compliment; it gives me a little more confidence.

The concert is only a week away, and I learned of the dress code today. Apparently we are supposed to wear red nylons with a black dress or skirt. Red nylons? That's not something I typically keep in my wardrobe, so I'm going to have to go on a hunt tomorrow. There aren't many places to look for them in town either. I'd better go and look for them soon before all of the other ladies buy them out! Wish me luck!

Unfortunately I did not get to see much of my boyfriend today. He's been really busy with work.. preparing exams for his English students and grading papers. So I have felt a bit lonely today. Even if I had gone in to my office, I still would have felt lonely because I'm usually the only one there (I work in a room with three desks. Only one other one is occupied, but we seem to be on different schedules because I rarely ever see her). Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day - more productive with work, shopping, and baking another (maybe two) sweet potato pie!
