My name is Katrin Williamson, I am 19 years old and was born in Germany. When I was 7 years old my family and I moved to Alkmaar, the Netherlands. I went to a European School were I was in the English section. When I was 17 I started studying at the Hotel Management School of Maastricht.

When I was 17 I started studying at the Hotel Management School of Maastricht. I am currently in my third year out of four. During the sixth semester, we get the opportunity to choose a more specific direction of studying. There are three main tracks we can choose from for our minors. Horizons in Hospitality teaches the students about companies and businesses that make use of hospitality which is not a hotel. The track Hotel Management includes Revenue & Real estate management as well as the minor Creating Customer Delight. The third track is called Foodservice and as the name already gives away it is about foodservice and gastronomy.

We also have the opportunity to go abroad for half a year as an exchange student, to help in a social aspect in third world countries for 10 weeks and to do a pre-master. Since I was not interested in the tracks that the Hotel Management School offered I looked at the possibility to go on exchange.

We had many great cities to choose from. In the end, I chose Dublin since I had never been to Ireland and I found the courses that are offered most appealing. I wrote a motivation letter and filled out all forms necessary to apply for the spot and got accepted.

In the future, I will post about all the things I have to do before my exchange as well as what I will be doing and experience when I am in Dublin.
