Hovden
The journey to Hovden
Hovden, a city known for skiing in the winter. Several ski centra are present. The road to Hovden was marvelous. At one point we made a stop to walk the dog, we followed a marked trail, which again let us to great viewpoints, those hikes are the best, following a trail not knowing what is awaiting you at the end. I cannot recall what the name of this place was, but it was amazing. It was quite a drive to Hovden, around 4 hours. But definetely worth it. Arrived at Hovden, we checked into the bungalow park, unpacked our stuff and started to explore surroundings. I already saw some mountains that I would love to climb.
Hovden, day 2:
Here we go, climbing mount Hovdenuten, onto a red marked hiking trail. It was a day with a bit of rain, but that did not make it less enjoyable. We followed the trail and it let us to this what appeared to be an old waterfall, only the stones where left. We walked over them and followed the trail higher and higher. Hovdenuten is 1119 moh, so quite a bad boy to climb. We were astonished by some of the people we came across, elderly, quite young kids, all walking like this is their daily high, while we were panting a bit, surreal. At the top, we had a view over Hovden, more mountains and over the holiday park, beautiful. We carried on down, before the pouring rain would start. In the evening, we decided that we were not done yet with hiking for the day. So why not climb mount Storenos, 1204 moh? Let's challenge ourselves, we thought, so off we went again. And we did it, another great view awaited us op top, we saw that we were a slight bit higher than the mountain of the morning, but still a great view. We were so proud of ourselves of completing this that the next day we went to the local information centre to get a diploma! Usually they only give those to kids, but we were so proud and thrilled that we as adults decided to get them as well!
Hovden, day 3:
Day 3 in Hovden already. The muscle pains are present, because of the hikes of the day before. However, still decided to go for more hikes, we are here in Norway now, so why not? We hiked at this trail that let to old mining facilities that were not used anymore. A place where they used to make stones for covering walls and for rooftops. Nice to explore old historic places, and again, those views!! I cannot get enough of them.
Hovden, day 4:
The last day in Hovden already, time flies when you are having fun, they say. We decided to go to a place where infinite snow is present, snow that stays at the top of the mountain for the whole year. It was kind of surreal, standing there in shorts, touching 2 metre high snow. But it was great fun, having snowball fights, checking out the area, playing in the snow with the dog. Love Hovden, great place in summer and I can imagine the same greatness in the winter!
