Everybody gather in Yoyogi Park ! Here are some fun events.

Do you know Yoyogi Park ? This is one of the biggest park in Tokyo and it is located near JR Harajuku Station and Meiji shrine in Shibuya. It is well-known for being a popular hangout, one of the most trendy place in Tokyo and if you take a walk in it on week ends you'll see lots of young people playing music, practicing dance etc...

So you can go whenever you want, there is always going to be something to see and you will never get bored ! But a lot of various events are organized almost every week end so you may want to go at some of these !

I am going to introduce a few of them below in chronological order.

On January :

-

Yoyogi Park flea market

It is the famous flea market taking place in Yoyogi every month and often several days per month.

Almost every upcoming weekend you might find something interesting.

You can find cheap good stuff and it can also be a good occasion to meet new people and communicate with Japanese people. Being close to Harajuku and Shibuya, it is very lively and youthfull. Find there trendy cloths, accessories and a lot more !

Unlike Setagaya Boroichi, the Yoyogi Flea Market is relatively youthful, though with approximately 800 vendors taking part, that doesn’t make it any less grand. Held every month since 1981, the event attracts a range of car-boot lovers with a recycling bent, and a lot of what’s on sale comes from the vendors’ homes - unwanted tit-tat in need of a new lease of life. There’s also a strong youthful element, probably due to the relatively cheap pitching costs.

- Yoyogi Park jogging

Need to do some exercise ? We invite you to gather with other folks to admire the beauty of the Yoyogi Park while losing some weight ! This event has also the particularity to be a Konkatsu event. What does it mean ? Konkatsu means "marriage hunting" and so it offers you the possibility to meet your potential future wife !

On March :

- Jazz Festival, 2013 on the 20st.

For the Jazz lovers out there, this is not an event to miss ! You can meet other Jazz fans, watch some amateur but very good young artists and so discover the young Japanese jazz scene. At the same time, professional artists are also present. You can also try some Jazz music instruments yourself !

Each year, several thousands of people gather for this event and it is incredible to see that jazz attracts a great part of the young population in Japan.

On June:

Earth Garden festival, summer edition on the June 30 July 1.

It is a gathering for lovers of nature and green-minded people... and also people interested in finding some funny and original items and natural products ! There are also musician performances and lots of people having lot of fun, for example last year you could find hula hoopers, Rockabilly people etc....

Have a lot of fun in the Yoyogi Park !
