The summer is just around the corner and families everywhere are wondering what they can do to make the summer enjoyable for all the members of the family. There are several different fun events happening all summer long. The months in between will fly by quickly and before you know it summer is here. The key to enjoying the most of the summer months is to plan ahead. Look at the activities that will be on and choose the ones you wish to attend. Start saving towards them and make your bookings early. A coach hire trip to the Appleby Horse Fair is one that must be included in your plans for the summer.

The Appleby horse Fair takes place in the first week of June in Westmoreland Cumbria. It is the largest horse fair of its size and nature in the UK and Europe. The fair attracts thousands of visitors to the site. This includes gypsies, travellers, and other tourists from all over the country and from all over the world. The fair has many different attractions but the main attraction is the different breeds of horses on display as well as the fine mares and horses being sold and traded. There is also music and merriment and the party and revelry lasts almost an entire week. It is certainly a most uncommon sight and one that is not to be missed.

You will see hundreds of horses, horse drawn carriages, and motor drawn caravans. The caravans are usually painted in all the varied colours of the rainbow and are splendid to look at all by themselves. They bring with them not just horses to trade as they have done for hundreds of years before but also other livestock and animals. There are usually birds such as chicken and ducks and small animals such as dogs or puppies for sale.

There are several thousand people in attendance at the fair and the hundreds of stalls all have different prizes and surprises and wares being offered up for sale. Cosmetic jewellery, charms, trinkets, and food. Brightly coloured adornments are loved by the travellers and are always on sale. There is also the usual items such as crockery and china with intricate designs and patterns, lamps, bedspreads and pillows, ornately and lavishly decorated and adorned. The fortune tellers are also another popular feature of the fair that visitors and tourist seem to favour and have always been very well patronised at their trailers or booths.

The Appleby horse fair never disappoints and is always a star attraction in the month of June and a great way to start the summer off. Due to the size and magnitude of the fair, certain safety precautions must be taken to ensure your personal safety and those travelling with you. There are thousands of people in attendance and the operators have put certain measures in place to protect the patrons including parking.

However, there is no need to worry about driving to the fair, the safety of your vehicle, or its possessions if you take advantage of a coach hire trip from Hardings Tours to the fair.
