The Southern region of India offers a wonderful cultural experience to its tourists. The best way to discover the Southern wonders is to go aboard the Golden Chariot, one of the luxury trains of India. This train managed by the Karnataka State Tourism and Development Corporation along with the Indian Railways, had its maiden journey during the month of March, in 2008. It has had many successful journeys, till date. Along with the cultural and architectural brilliance, you can also savor the quaint natural beauty.

This Indian luxury train offers two meticulously planned journeys- the Splendor of the South  and the Pride of the South.  Both of these offer you a chance to explore some of the most  historically rich destinations of South India, like Bangalore, Mysore, Hampi, Belur, Kabini, Badami, Goa, Chennai, Mahabalipuram, Pondicherry, Thanjavur, Madurai, Thiruvnanthapuram, Povar, Kochi, Tiruchipalli and Kerala Backwaters.

During your luxury train travel on-board the Golden Chariot , you can relish lip-smacking vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian delicacies of various cuisines. There are 2 on-site multi-cuisine restaurants, Ruchi and Nala, named after two mythical characters.  You can enjoy various kinds of other facilities too like a fully-equipped conference car for business needs, Nirvana the gym, a recreational coach and Madira, well-stocked lounge bar.

Along with the facilities and the itinerary, both cabins as well as their amenities are also absolutely luxurious. Golden Chariot’s coaches have derived their names from the region’s princely states, like Vijaynagar, Yudukula , Sangama, Kadamba, Shathavashna, Hoyasala, Bhahmani, Rastrakota, Chalukya, Ganga and Adilshahi. In total, there are 26 twin-bed cabins that are fully-furnished. 12 cabins are with double bed and 1 cabin is for a physically challenged traveler. The list of in-cabin services is also long, which includes Channel music, AC with individual climate control, a DVD player, plush private bathroom with toiletries and 24X7 running water, wardrobes, medical assistance, electronic safety box , direct dial telephone and more.
