DIARY of PARADISE, #Arrival, part 1

January 24, 2013

"Bienvenu en Nouvelle Caledonie. La temperature actuelle est 28 degrés Celsius, il fait beau, sans nuages."

Even if I understood french, I wouldn't pay that much attention to wht they' re saying. It's 7:25 in the morning and my new life has just begun. I am sure that my luggage is going to come as the last one, as usual. Half of the overall amount of the luggages that were in the plane is gone and I am still waiting, wondering what would I do if it got lost. Well, I hope I won' t need anything else but swimsuit, haha....still nothing...Even this guy, standing next to me more than 20 minutes, has already taken his luggage and he is leaving. I wanted to say "Hey!", maybe he is an erasmus student, but then, I didn' t want to risk any embarrasing situation as I am not so ready to speak french yet. I mean, if he wouldn' t speak english. It could be nice to find a friend the first day of my arrival, but he has gone. The "PARADISE" from Coldplay is still playing in my MP3 player. I was having it on replay while landing, Exactly how I had been imagining it during those 9 months of hard work to achieve my dream. South Pacific,.here I am. Probably without any clothes, as my stuff is not here now for something like 30 minutes, but anyway, it still feels good just to imagine that in few minutes my reality will be completely different then past 21 years and I will find myself under the sun, hot in my long pants and woolen coat that I needed in Japan.

Now, I'm getting really nervous. Maybe I forgot how does my luggage look like!! I do not like waiting, but I totally hate this kind of stress. Plus, there is this guy I met at the board, and he wants me to meet his family. He is a teacher in a local high school. Nice guy, we've been talking almost whole time while flying. He increased mz desire to explore everything that this country hides. The man was around an age of my parents, I guess. I sit next to him and we started to talk. I must admit that he spoke brilliant english, especially for a french guy [no offence]. He was talking to me about his two daughters, about his familly, the stuff they do, etc. He was carrying a present for his younger daughter, because she was going to have a birthday. He got her an IPHONE in France, because it' s really cheaper there than buying it in New Caledonia, but after all nothing really changed, because he realized that he needs to admit it at the airport and pay a tax for it. His second daughter, the older one, who is going to be jealous of the youger one, as she won' t get the IPHONE, is going to university this year to study economics. Maybe I will have her in my class. That would be really a coinscidence. I would really love to meet his family, but I am sure thay have already left, because now it' s only me and three another people waiting at the running line which is bringing the luggage. I am so tired that I might fall asleep while waiting, but fortunatelly here we go...the black chock full suitcase wirh a thin pink strip is finally approaching me...yeaaaaah, let' s get this party started!
